You sure took the ball and ran with it. Just in some weird direction that can't even be described in three dimensional space time terms. Or to put it another way, WTF ?

I'm not saying in the slightest all allegations of rapes are false. I'm saying that these types of studies are clearly manipulative and flawed and it has the effect of making people like me who document the radical feminist agenda to be very , very skeptical of them. To the extent that I find anything a feminists tells me very difficult to take seriously. Without such bogus claims such as 1 in 3 men are rapists, I would certainly take the issue more seriously. This damages the the credibility of the cause and is harmful to women. You witnessed yourself the backlash here.

Did it ever cross your mind to think that maybe this study wasn't made in order to support the 'radical feminist agenda'?

Rape happens whether some group has an agenda or not. The prevalence of rape in South African society is uncomfortably high whether you're a feminist, a masculinist, or any other sort of -ist.

I will say that if we were less sensitive about racial profiling, this sort of study would have included information on the status of the individuals surveryed (where they live, how much they earn, what their education levels are, etc). The study isn't terribly useful without that information. However, if it will put your mind at rest, I'm pretty confident that most of the "1 out of 3 SA men" who rape live in townships or squatter camps. Not all of them, but most of them.

I'm assuming it's safe to assume the study didn't go around asking men if they've ever forced themselves on a woman? More likely to get dishonest answers that way. They would instead have asked a range of related questions from which the results were determined.

No. Did it ever cross your mind you're a tortoise ? That's absurd.

Or isn't it. Is it not rather just that we have a third world country with first world politically correct discourse ? We define rape as silly things like "having sex while drunk is rape because a woman can't consent while drunk ?". I'm not being denialist and I admit rape is a problem in our country. I'm just saying your average South African man, no matter what his culture, is not interested in raping someone. 1 in 3 is a stupid statistic and fantastically irresponsible and harmful to the cause it pretends to champion.

Most men in townships rape ?

Oh dear. What can I say to that without having someone say I'm playing a race card ? I'll just leave it and let it stand as a shining monument or bastion to it's own ignorance and stupidity.

You'd think if 1 in 3 men raped, and half of rape cases didn't go reported that at least 1 in every 6 men would be currently standing trial for rape. No matter which way you try spin this is incredibly stupid.

I am pretty sure the questions were more like...

"Have you ever had sex with a woman while drunk ?"

Answer yes and they tick the box for rape.

"Have you ever had sex with a woman who seemed reluctant at first ?" (even though later she changed her mind. Yes coy, indecisive and "playing hard to get" exist.)

Yes ? Let me just tick this rape box here.

Have you ever forced a woman to have sex with you physically under threat even though she fought you off and said no ?

No, you haven't ??? Huh ? Why would you possibly say no ? You already admitted to raping in other ways ! That's so strange. Doesn't correlate at all ! Oh well, you're still a rapist. Same thing.

1 in 3 of you.

Stupid humans. Women like to have sex. Sometimes they do it for flawed reasons. It's not the mans fault. Get this in your heads if you can. It's a whopper so take a seat and a few deep breaths.

Ready ?

Women are responsible for their own actions.

Pow !

That is rape.

That's the definition. Penetration of someone who does not or can not give consent is rape.

It's that simple.

Well I certainly gave consent when I was drunk. Remember even if you willingly have sex while drunk according to this bogus definition you can't give consent. Saying yes , is not saying yes when drunk. Well seeing as I can't then I suppose I and at least 1 in 3 men have been raped many times. Where's my headline ?

Don't look for logic, there is none.

The mythology is basically like this.

Men, even when kids, are responsible for their actions. For an example see how when boys have sex with their much older teachers society shrugs its shoulders.

But women , even when adults are never responsible for their actions. And for that you can use the very same example.

Lol I was just thinking now how many guys are on this forum dived that by 3 and this site seems to breed sexual predictors

Well, it's an over-exaggeration, but baldly true, I guess.

Next you'll be complaining that your body's inability to accommodate a foetus or give birth is a gross infraction of your human rights...

Men and women are different. It's no use denying that. What are you going to do about it?

Is it ? It's widely true in fact. The movie monster asks us to consider how a serial killer who happens to be female is a character who needs empathy while all the victims are demonised as terrible people. John Wayne Bobbit has his penis cut off and we mock him for being a cheater. Imagine a man had cut a womans breasts off for cheating ? Would it be a funny joke to everyone ? Getting a semblance of perspective yet ?

But, No thanks. I'm quite happy with my role as a man. Men have invented just about everything that ever existed or is virtous. We're the protectors and providers for woman and always have be. Albeit often from other men. No chip on my shoulder there. It's when you try imply I need to carry the burden of being a rapist etc that I stand my ground.

You only have to carry that burden if you believe that your ownership of a penis means you're the same as a rapist who has a penis.

If you can't look beyond people's penises that's your problem, but it doesn't mean that your stance on 'overreactionary' rape statistics has any merit. :)

This has the same twang to it as that idiotic Charlize Theron ad from a couple of years ago. I've got 4 or 5 close male friends, none of whom would dare touch a woman uninvited, let alone resort to rape. That in itself invalidates the entire 'study'.

Sensationalism derived from non-representative stats FTL. Problems do not get addressed by overstating them to the point of being ludicrous.

+10000
to this day ... I still despise Charlize

So you suggest 1 in 3 men are rapists in this country ? This has merit ? Rape in the sense of forcing sex on a non consenting person ? Or will you admit they have labelled people having sex with a drunk person a rapist as well as other far less sinister acts ?

Should they not at least have the honesty to concede their definition of rape ? Because I guarantee you that if it was exposed most people would say " Oh , I thought you were talking about rape !?"

Because that drunk people have sex is not exactly the same thing now is it ?

I'd love to hear a womans take on all of this. How do you feel that 1 in 3 of your husbands, boyfriends, sons, fathers and brothers are being called rapists ? Are 1 in 3 of your friends raped ? Do these crazy feminazis speak for you ?
