Also I don't think you need Cedega. Wine has gotten very good with 3D recently. Personally I don't think you should have to pay a monthly fee for the games you've already paid for.
@ Slootvreter: clearly you're wrong because I'm playing several 'Windows' games on Linux.

Several you say. And there are still several which won't work or run smoothly.

Well not all games that worked for XP work on Vista. Point is if you can get the game to run on Linux then do it.

Otherwise just use what OS the game runs on. Not a big deal, life goes on

Not all games work in XP now btw. Some are designed for Vista etc.

BTW I would assume you are accused of trolling because

Well Virtualbox is faster than VMware, so he should have less troubles running games in VB than in VM

I thought VMware has experimental DX8 support while VB doesn't...so WMWare should be better for games imo.

The entire VM comparison is very confusing imo...90% of the comparisons on the intarwebz are wrong because they rely on the clock for measurements...and the clock is all messed up under VMs.

So what if my signature says I hate Linux. That doesn't mean I despise anyone who uses it. Just like all the people out there that declare their disdain for Microsoft in theirs. And I wasn't trolling here, I was making an observation. I could have said FUKC LINUX but I won't do that in a Linux forum.

Could it be your graphics system? Are you able to run other 3D games? I was using ATI built in graphics and had trouble with native games like Tuxracer. I bought an Nvidia card (although the newest model ATI cards should be good too) and now everything works as it should. I'm running Red Alert with no problems, so it does work on Wine. Also check the Appdb, perhaps there's a solution there.

2 b honest I love Linux but the gaming department is a little sucky at best. but at least I don't waste valuable resources on virus scans and malware scanners. as far as I am concerned there is nothing wrong with a dual boot system (resources and licensing permitting) each system has their good and bad points.
visualization is not the answer for a gaming platform. buy a x-box for games and use Linux to do work and browsing.
