He was however never a poor defender as some might have suggested.

Fk me, Mornè Steyn is just getting better and better. No less than 7 Successfull penalties which in turn won the Bulls the game.

We "almost" hate him here in WeePee, but Joe also got his kicks over, so we can't say that Steyn cost us the game.

The biggest mistake you have made, but I would expect it really, is that the argument has always been about Ruan or Morne as flyhalf for the Boks. Not really sure how Ruan playing scrumhalf for the Sharks and Morne effectively playing behind the Bok counterparts proves anything.
So if Morne had played prop and had a mediocre game then you would have written him off as Bok flyhalf? Interesting....
If I recall correctly, which you clearly can't, the argument has NEVER been about whether Steyn can kick!
You see this is what we have to deal with when it comes to you Steyn, or in fact Bulls supporters as a whole, you always fail to realise that rugby is a team sport. The Boks win with 7 Bulls players and all of a sudden it is all the Bulls doing. Any team wins with Morne Steyn in it and all of a sudden there needn't have been another 14 players on the field....

This, to me, settles it: On his first drop attempt on Saturday the Newlands crowd booed him. Commentators were disgusted by that, remember how just a few short weeks ago they cheered Mr Steyn.
And that is the crux: you simply must have something very special about you to get the dubious honour of a Newlands booing. Ruan has not achieved that accolade...

Please man, the commentators were being so stupid with that comment. They got caught up in the Pitbull-like Morne hysteria. A fan supports the TEAM not the PLAYER! If a player is playing for the Boks you want him to do well, if he plays for the opposition you want him to fail. Simple really. Should we be cheering on Kevin Pietersen in cricket? He is South African after all? Of course not, he plays for the opposition now!

He drop kicked when we had already got the penalty advantage (thus the smart thing to do).
And he again showed nerves of steel and spread the ball well enough.
I think now that it has been proven that at the moment Steyn is the better flyhalf you go off topic and tell us steyn is shlt for no apparent reason (no comparison to steyn like the thread says) but to try and save some face.
