If someone wants to question MSSQL database with regards to the ability to handle a large load of requests, do some research on the EVE cluster of servers run by CCP in Iceland.
Not saying that Oracle is a bad solution but I think people don't give MSSQL credit for what it can do, if the database is structured and indexed properly.
