Most popular Linux distros revealed

:wtf: Long shot to claim Ubuntu is the most popular.....

I just installed Ubuntu. Im having hell trying to get the wireless usb adapter to connect to the router!

not everything is designed to work in ubuntu... especially some of the propiotary stuff... but most of the time you can get a generic driver to work. as far as i know ubuntu works out the box with most things now days... except of course ATi graphics card and any new game...

With some more info we may be able to help.

I installed the latest Ubuntu Distro (Lucid Lynx)
Everything is up and running perfectly, got a dual boot going with Windows 7.
The problem is, my wireless usb adapter (Canyon CNP-WF518N1) is not picking up my netgear router, which it obviously is in Windows.

Ubuntu is DEFINATELY the BEST :)

My wireless worked OTB, my Vodacom on my K3565 modem worked OTB, my LAN worked OTB, my Nvidia worked OTB, and it's so pretty :D

Anybody have an opinion on CentOS?

CentOS is fabulous, either as server or as desktop.

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Ubuntu has, but rock-solid and fast. I wouldn't recommend it for home use, but for office use it's tops.

I've been running CrunchBang Linux on my laptop for the past4/5 months and rate it far superior to either Mint or Ubuntu.

Version 9.04 is Ubuntu based without the bloat and version 10 (Alpha 1) is based on Debian. One of the reasons for the change of base is due to Ubuntu versions only having a life of 6 months whereas Debian versions released are a lot more stable. Alpha 2 is about to be released.

Yeah, it would appear that this top 10 is based on the rankings on distrowatch.

Makes me insanely proud that the distro started by a South African is number 1.

Mark Shuttleworth, you da man!!! Oh, and I love Ubuntu 10.04.
