I generally only watch (or try to at least) films rated 7 or above on IMDB, as I don't like wasting time. Since the zombie decease hit us good films are hard to come by and all the good rated ones I already watched.

What films have you watched you think are way underrated?

In other words, films that didn't make the 7/10 rating on IMDB.

Not sure how I stumbled on to this one, but thought it deserves and 8 or higher. Was such a great watch:

The Island (2005)

Subjective, but okay...

Vanilla Sky has a 6.9 rating on IMDb. It's not for everyone, but it is for me.

The Coen's The Ladykillers has a 6.2 rating. Again, not for everyone, but I think it's a gem, and while we're discussing the Coen's, Intolerable Cruelty is also sitting on an IMDb rating of 6.2 and I think that's a travesty.

EDIT:

Haven't seen either. Cheers!

No worries, but I'm not kidding when I say the Coen's movies aren't for everyone, and Vanilla Sky can be pretty divisive too.

All of them are either 'oh hell yeah!' or 'get the hell outa here!', no middle ground to speak of.

The Matrix is the darling child of the Wachowski's. But I honestly much preferred V for Vendetta and thought Hugo Weaving did a brilliant job as V

At this point it's not under-rated but on release there wasn't much noise over Dredd (2012). Great fun action movie if you haven't already seen it, and a near pitch-perfect Judge Dredd.

You've seen the original, superior-by-any-possible-measure, Abre Los Ojos?

Imo, John Carter. Loved everything about it and sad that the planned trilogy was canned.

Also Indiana Jones 4. Come on guys it was not THAT bad

The first Starship Troopers movie. It's pure satire when you watch it again later in life and you realise how they were mocking right-wing militarism/fascism and they did a great job at it.
I think most would agree it was a great movie. Don't really think it's underrated. All the sequels though are terrible and are overrated if they scored a rating above 0
