Under the Tuscan Sun (Yes its girly, but its great as sometimes life hits you with a sledgehammer and you have to do something different, and you dont always see the end, but what is meant to be will happen, and at the end of the day - or years - you discover that you achieved what you set out to do.

Fun with Dick and Jane was hilarious

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is honestly in my top 5 favourite movies. Yet I have friends who think I'm insane because they found it unwatchable
 
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

6.9 on IMDb and 60% Rotten Tomatoes is criminal. You couldn't have asked for better source material yet they stopped after one really good movie

IMO the BBC 80s miniseries is the best adaptation
 
We have to dig deep here, but:

Sinners and Saints (2010)
The Glimmer Man (1996)
Non Stop (2014)

Though it doesn't seem to be the case, but I believe Reservoir Dogs is underrated.

Sunshine, but it is known to be underrated.

The Wrestler, though, it has gained popularity over time.

There are plenty. Also, many underrated Far Eastern movies which didn't gain the West's attention.

Yip the Vogons are just like most government workers.

Did you fill in the blue form, or the light blue form.

But what I liked most.

Earth was destroyed because the president of the galaxy (who got voted in because they thought they voted for the worst dressed contestant) signed the destruction of earth with a Love and Kisses from Zaphod. Yip he though someone actually asked for his fan signature.

And then when they demolish the main character's house in the middle of green fields because they need a highway, only for Earth to be blown up because the rest of the galaxy wanted to build their own highway (5 minutes later)

And then when at Vogon the flyswatters hits them in the face everytime they have an idea what to do. You see government officials (Vogons) arent meant to have any ideas. They just do stuff as per the manual.

And yet it was a box office flop mostly.

Now it has a 9.3 on IMDB by 2.4 million people. And is still rated the best movie of all time.

Well worth watching if you never have.

Fight Club was another box office movie that became a success cult classic.

And then Blade Runner

But for classics
Lawrence of Arabia, El Cid, Cleopatra, The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur (my favourite)

FULLY agree with The Shawshank Redemption. It's a movie we have watched a few times! Brilliantly acted by all.

Freaks (2018) is one the best superhero movies I've ever seen. And it weren't largely unseen when it was released in 2019.
