Call me slow but I just today discovered a neat trick of Android!

If you swipe down the notification bar with two fingers it goes straight to the tiles where you can adjust Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS on/off, etc.

or better yet, swipe down with one finger and tap the white line at the bottom of the notification bar with your other finger ! Works better for me.

Moto X going for $299 with coupon

The*Motorola Moto X, the company’s flagship Android device, is at an all-time low price at $299 with the use of a promo code at Motorola’s site.

Your first step is to head to the*Moto Maker website, the place where you can customize the colors and other options of the Moto X. Once you’ve had your fun, you can use the discount code “MBXISMOT” to lower the base price to $299. That’s a $100 discount at this point. The 32GB consumer and developer editions drop to $325, a $125 discount.

If you use the code, you’ll also get the*Motorola Skip, a small device that usurps the pin code lock screen security measure. By keeping the Skip on your person, you can avoid having to input the pin repeatedly while still locking the phone from the random person who grabs it off the street.

If you’re looking for some inspiration as to how to design your new Moto X, I’d suggest shelling out the extra $25 for the wooden back panel. Walnut is my favorite, but they also offer Ebony, Bamboo, and Teak.

I've got a developer Edition that I picked up in Miami a few months ago. It is really a pity that Motorola is no longer represented here in SA. It is really am awesome phone. It may only be dual core but the 2 smaller cores that do other menial functions and 2 GB of ram really make this phone smooth and stutter free. (Almost pure Android also helps) It is on 4.4.3 and will apparently go straight over to Android L and skip 4.4.4

But I'm also going to get a Moto G. My neighbour got it as a replacement for his stolen Galaxy 4S and can't stop raving about it.

Even better, use Nova, then you can just swipe down anywhere on the screen for the notifications or up for the quick settings. No need to reach WAY up there. ;)

The Motorola brand is going to be relaunched in South Africa soon as Lenovo has acquired them so THe Moto X & Moto G should be available by the end of the year.
