The moto g 2gb model doesnt seem to be any cheaper via ebay, $300 including getting it here via dhl.

Buying the more expensive 2gb model doesnt make sense financially.

The Sony M4 aqua has better specs and is R3800 via orange. Sony seems to commit to updates aswell, so you wont feel left behind.
I'm going to make use of Postbox Courier which should work out to about $250 which I think is worth it. The M4 Aqua doesn't have enough of a developer scene yet for me as I love to tinker about with my phone.

What is the dimensions of the box for postbox courier? I might go that route. Are you buying the black or white moto g?, cos i cant decide which colour looks better.

There was an article about custom charges. I think the article mentioned that customs charges equate to 30% of purchase price.

For the 3rd gen the box dimensions are 150 x 110 x 50 mm

Since you're using post box courier, you can use moto maker to customise how it looks. I can't decide whether to get it in all black or red back with dark chrome accent, possible white back and light chrome too.

Can you please give me the following details for postbox courier :

Weight (kg) -
Parcel height (cm) -
Parcel length (cm) -
Parcel width (cm) -

Do you have a rough idea of how much customs will charge?

Cheers

I used the dimensions that Hamster posted above and I tried using 0.5kg-1kg but the price remained the same. I don't think the weight should be any more than that.

Thanx. I thought the weight of packaging would play a role in pricing hence my query.

I seemed to have found more useful info regarding customs:

"As an example, FedEx showed the following calculation for a hypothetical R10,000 device:

Item price R10,000
SARS 15% luxury item mark-up R1,500
Taxable value R11,500
7% Duty R805
14% VAT R1,610
Total tax R2,415
Both FedEx and DHL handle customs clearance on behalf of their clients, which attracts a processing and disbursement fee."

R4174. 50 for a moto g and that doesnt include the processing+ disbursement fee. I decided not to buy it after reading this article. It isnt worth it after customs gets their pound of flesh.

Has anyone been able to get their hands on the 2GB RAM + 16GB Memory version of the Moto G 3rd Gen?

If not locally, where did you buy it and how much was customs?

Got my Moto G (3rd gen) from Orange last week.

8 gig + official moto, crimson flip cover for R3500 total. Coming from the Xperia M2 Aqua I must say its a way better phone, glad I opted for Moto this time round as I am tired of waiting for Sony's LAG'y updates.

PS: it does not officially say it supports 64 gig SD's but the SanDisk Ultra 64GB Class 10 microSD Card works.

Have you experienced any issues with the limited internal storage? It is only 8GB.

Not an issue for me, but I must add that I am over the game phase, only have about 4 on my phone. Photo's and music is on the 64 gig as well some of my other apps.

Have about 2 gig spare on the phone, and 25 gig on the SD

I do love my Moto G 3rd! Had the G 1st since end August, this is a huge upgrade for me. If I can get of a 16GB/2GB one that would be even better bur for now the 8GB/1GB works great.
