MotoGP 2016

What an amazing race. Thought the Yamahas were dead and buried but Rossi showed what a maestro he still is. Lorenzo is a whiny little bitch and I can't believe I have to support him next year. Marquez is growing on me as well. But what a ride by Crutchlow! Would never have called that. Thoroughly deserved win. Roll on Silverstone in two weeks!

It is when a rider waits about on-track during qualifying for a faster rider/group of riders to come past and then proceeds to fall in behind them to slipstream, thus setting a faster time due to the tow of the other bike. It is very common in Moto3. The issue isn't that they set quicker times, the issue is that they are a danger to other riders because they are riding a lot slower than they should while waiting for faster bikes to come past and they are near or on the racing line when they do this. It also then results in other riders slowing down to avoid giving others a tow, so it gets very dangerous as you have slow bikes waiting to be ''picked up'' and faster bikes abruptly slowing down to stop other riders from ''using'' them and this is all happening on/near the racing line.

More cynically, in the past some riders have circulated the track at a reduced speed and waited for a rival to come past on a fast lap, at which point they drift on to the racing line and slow him down/force him to leave the racing line.

Apparently the race is set to be run in dry conditions tomorrow so I'm not sure how long he will be able to stay in front for, but it should be a great race nonetheless. He can be greatful Laverty went down when he did as he was up on Crutchlow's time after the second split, but binned it. Lorenzo's woes in the wet continue...
 
Brad! Brilliant win. 1st to 6th covered by less than a second, 1st to 11th under two seconds... 12th at 2.111.
 
Said it earlier in this thread, Vinales is a No 1 plate waiting to happen.
More winners in the last few races than in the last half decade of F1
 
MotoGP again giving F1 the finger. From the mundane to the breathless! Not even close to a Suzuki fan, but so happy for Vinales. Rossi is going to have his hands full next year. The young upstart against the old master.

Hope that Baz and Espargaro are ok. That was an almighty coming together.

"I woke just before getting into the ambulance" - Loris Baz.

Loris Baz and Pol Espargaro were fortunate to escape serious injury during a huge accident on the opening lap of Sunday's British MotoGP.

The pair made contact on the fast approach to Turn 3, as Baz took evasive action to avoid Danilo Petrucci braking ahead of him.

Riders and bikes were sent bouncing across the grass and back onto the track, with Baz being knocked out. The race was red-flagged and later restarted without either rider.

Baz has a sprained ankle and will undergo a precautionary head scan ton ensure he isn't suffering from concussion. If all is clear he will be at Misano. Espargaro claims to be a little sore all over but he says he will be ready for Misano.

Overall that was some of the best racing I have seen for a long time. Rossi was gushing about all the duels. The man lives for that.

Asked if he was more worried when he had Andrea Iannone or Marquez for company during a race, Ross said: “More when I have Marquez, because I know that he has special treatment with me! But also with Iannone, it is not easy. Apart from the joke, it was a great battle with Iannone and also with Marquez – it is always a strong battle, but fair.”

“It was a great race, a great fight with [Cal] Crutchlow, with Marquez especially and with Iannone. When I was fifth with Marquez in front and Iannone in front, I say, 'difficult' – also because I had [Dani] Pedrosa behind. I tried to not give up, to ride at the limit; I was also lucky at the end but this is an important podium for me and for the team because I arrive on the podium after a difficult weekend.

I'm getting quite annoyed with Marques to be honest, he is very reckless at times

I had been impressed with his maturity this year, but he did have a bit of a lapse yesterday.

That for me is why Valentino is a great. At the peak of his powers he could ride hard and close but he never binned it. His opponents would be the ones that lost their nerves.
