MotoGP 2019

At least Vale was showing some pace and hopefully this was a type-limited race for the others. Maybe COTA will be different (we can hope)
 
Still can't get over Rossi. 40 and he can still mix it up with the best.

KTM really struggling in Moto2.
 
I enjoyed the race for 2nd place. Marquez in a class of his own.
Poor Lorenzo must hate his Honda. Even more than last year's Ducati.

Well done to Darryn Binder for his 2nd place in Moto3.
 
Apparently Lorenzo pressed the pit limiter at the start couldn't recover and generally was off the pace all weekend, could the bikes the THAT different and difficult to ride?

Its a rider thing.

He struggled to get to grips with the Ducati when he moved from Yamaha. Now he seems to have issues getting up to speed with the Ducati. He seems to have a very specific way of riding a bike and how he wants it to handle/respond. Adaptability doesn't look like a strong point where he is concerned.

Generally speaking though the bikes have different characteristics.

One does wonder if Marc would have similar issues porting to a Yamaha / Ducati etc.... Yeah he DID struggle a lot with the Ducati - perhaps the learning curve is tougher

That's the question.

Rossi and Stoner have proven that they can win and win championships on different bikes. I'd like to see Marc try that.
 
Yeah, Lorenzo took time to get used to the Ducati. Ironically, it was only once he had confirmed his move to Honda that he started to win races and regularly push Marquez and Dovi on his Ducati.
 
Has anybody watched Fastest? 2011 Documentary on MotoGP that focuses on Rossi, his rivalries and the sport at large.

Couple of interesting things.

When talking to a senior Yamaha engineer, the engineer said the reason why Japanese bike manufacturers are so far ahead of their European counterparts is because of WW2. After the war they were forbidden from developing aircraft and he said the philosophy behind an aircraft is the same for a bike. He himself wanted to be an aircraft engineer but had to settle for bikes. All the best brains in Japanese industry moved to cars and bikes.

Secondly, Jorge Lorenzo's Yamaha chief mechanic at the time - Ramon Forcada - said Lorenzo isn't very technically minded. He said he is a great rider. Give him a good bike and he will win, but he won't help you develop a bike. It was an open secret that while at Yamaha he reaped the fruits of Valentino's development work, with Valentino being far superior from a technical perspective. This would explain why Jorge struggles whenever he moves to a new bike, he has to adapt to a bike because he cannot assist the engineers in to bringing the bike to him.

Watched it yeah a couple of times in fact, its a very good documentary and provides a real insight, you have to get it in 1080p 60fps.

Another I'd suggest to watch is TT Closer to the edge with Guy Martin, its absolutely astounding what those guys do.
 
Looks like MM93 is going to conquer COTA again

Dovi was nowhere yesterday... Lack of dry track time this weekend has hampered many a driver
 
Rossi still has it but what a ride by Rins. Fantastic stuff!
 
Free practice times for this weekend's Catalan MotoGP. Looks like it could be a close run affair!

Racing at Le Mans this weekend. Hopefully someone can take the fight to MM93 or this championship, like F1 currently, is only going one way.
