MotoGP 2020

Wonder what the what tactic is with the long lap. Take it early and get it out of the way?

Saw on Facebook he will be told when to take it and then has 3 laps to do so.

Solid 5th by Darren today, dropped off the pace in last 6 laps. Hectic black flag though

I would take it on the first lap if possible while the pack is still bunched up and getting their tyres up to temp.
 
What a ride by Juan Mir! Crushing victory. Surely it's his championship to lose now. And amazing stuff from Brad! What a ride back into the top 10. Hopefully he can carry this pace forward to next week.

I reckon it was extremely harsh. Flagged for irresponsible riding but I don't think he hampered other riders.
Even more so since Alcoba escaped sanction a few weeks ago for his move on Binder.

Nah, fully deserved. He went out there because he was butthurt and wanted to prove a point. After falling, Ogura's team put at a ''75 KO'' message on his pit board. Arenas went out there to race Ogura and prove he wasn't KO. He had no other business racing the leaders while 3-laps down. He was petulant and irresponsible.

If he was close to the leaders at the time of the first flag it may have been a different story. But I still feel going from giving up a place to Darryn to a black flag was harsh.

He divebombed Ogura. Two laps later he was blue-flagged for interfering with Binder before eventually getting the black-flag on the same lap. He was reckless.

Yeah not sure what his thinking was. He was multiple laps down and was never going to unlap himself and get back in the hunt for points. As it turns out, his antics with Darryn Binder didn't seem to have any effect on Binder's charge towards the podium. He seemed uncharacteristically slow and lethargic and couldn't keep up. The bike just wasn't underneath him. But Arenas squabbling with Ogura seemed like an attempt to scare him off the road and out of the points. He was unfairly taken out through no fault of his own but hey, that's racing.

I figured Marc would not race this year and it makes sense after he tried to rush back earlier and aggravated his injury. Its just not worth it and not on that Honda, which is physically demanding to ride.

As for Iannone, that is a big ouch. That is his career pretty much done. He'll be 35 when his ban is lifted. He should've just taken the initial 18-month ban.

I wonder if Dovi would consider an Aprilia factory ride? Aprilia said they were basing their rider decisions on the outcome of Iannone's appeal. At 34, I don't see many options for him down the line.

Dovizioso officially announces MotoGP sabbatical for 2021​

Outgoing Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso has officially announced he will take a sabbatical from MotoGP in 2021, confirming Autosport's reports.

The 15-time MotoGP race winner announced in August during the Austrian Grand Prix he would not be renewing his contract with Ducati beyond 2020.

At the time, the Italian admitted he didn't have a plan B but wanted to make the decision then to focus fully on the title fight.

Autosport reported recently Dovizioso was in discussions with Honda, KTM and Yamaha over a test rider role.

t was understood he was nearing a deal with Yamaha to test the M1 in 2020.

However, Autosport revealed on Monday Dovizioso will no longer take up a test rider role and will sit out 2021.

Honestly, that is the end of his competitive MotoGP career. He will be 35-36 in 2022. Nobody is giving him a top ride.

Yamaha, Honda, KTM and Suzuki have all committed to much younger riders as their futures and there are a stream of new ones coming up. Maybe he gets lucky and gets a satellite Yamaha/Suzuki ride where he can double up as a development rider.
 
Gonna miss him on the grid. One of the few riders to be able to take the fight to Marc Marquez. Such a pity that this year's Ducati is a complete dog to ride. He deserves to go out a champion but sadly it isn't to be this year. All the best Dovi!

MARQUEZ FACES FURTHER BLOW THAT COULD DELAY MOTOGP RETURN​

Marc Marquez may face a further setback in his efforts to return to MotoGP for the start of the 2021 season, according to The Race’s sources in the paddock, with the prospect of a third operation that could potentially add months to his recovery time.

The Honda rider badly broke his right arm at the season-opening Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez four months ago, necessitating surgery to install a titanium plate onto the humerus bone.

Subsequently attempting a return to action only five days later, he stressed the injury to the point of significantly aggravating it, prompting a second surgery and extending the timeline for his return into months rather than days.

Marquez had initially aimed to be back in action in time for the end of the 2020 season next weekend in Portugal. But his Honda team ruled that out earlier this week, confirming that he would sit out the final two rounds of the year – and only admitting that he was ‘aiming’ to return to racing in 2021.

That’s because, according to The Race’s sources, his right humerus bone has been left in a considerably worse state than anticipated after two operations to install supportive metal plates.

With each requiring numerous holes to be drilled into his arm, the bone is understood to have been structurally compromised by the repeated surgeries, and Marquez is now facing the potential need for a bone graft, likely with a piece removed from the iliac crest of his pelvis.

That attempt to come back early was very stupid of him. This could severely compromise his career if the rumours of a third op are true. Even if he does come back, will he be the same?
