Mixed fortunes today for the Binder boys. Curious as to what happened to Brad, and a credible and fighting 6th for Darryn.

He raced brilliantly. If he has sorted out his qualifying issues, he will be a serious threat to Bagnaia and Martin in the second half of the season. Also, he has no loyalty to Ducati now that he is on his way out, so I don't expect him to do Bagnaia any favours and will be going all out to do what is best for him, championship-wise.

Clutch issues.

Binder’s race ended immediately and he gave a frustrated explanation to media including Crash.net afterwards.

“I haven’t got much to say,” he sighed.

“I got to the start. When I pulled off, I had a slight clutch issue and I couldn’t get away.

“So, yeah, end of story.”

Binder explained more about his clutch: “It started slipping when I went away. It unfortunately stayed in.

“It started slipping when I tried to launch. I tried to get it to release but it didn’t want to.

“I tried to get back to the pits to swap bikes but it didn’t make it.”

He insisted there were no problems until he lined up on the starting grid: “It was all okay. When I got the grid I really battled to engage neutral. I thought ‘oh ****…’

“Then, obviously the bike was creeping forwards on the grid. I had an idea of what was coming.

“I tried my best to stay down and put my hand up, in case someone hit me, so I could be more braced for it. I was lucky that nobody did.”

Clutch issues.

I saw that, but what was this comment?
TNT Sports’ Michael Laverty analysed what went wrong: “They’ve forgotten to disengage fuel-save mode from the sighting lap.
“Unfortunately, it has happened before.
“They put a map in to use no fuel on the sighting lap. They come round to the grid and they should put the race map back in.”

Weather on Saturday and Sunday, at this stage anyway, is looking less than flash. Could throw up some possible surprises. Brad Binder on slicks, anyone?

Franco Morbidelli confirmed at VR46 Ducati for next season (only a 1 year deal for now it seems).

In other news, it seems Jack Miller has possibly received a lifeline with news linking him to Pramac Yamaha. It seems Pramac has done a bit of a U-turn regarding their preferred lineup, now seemingly favouring experience and development capacity over youth which to me makes a great deal of sense. If this is the route they are going to go, they could a lot worse than Jack.

I wonder if Yamaha influenced this decision?

There are rumours that they are going to beef up their development department by signing Augusto Fernandez as a 2nd test rider alongside Crutchlow and they pushed hard for Pramac to switch from Ducati, so they are taking it seriously (developing the M1) and having two race winners on satellite bikes won't hurt at all.
