Brad Binder ready for what could be make-or-break MotoGP year

Brad Binder is confident he can get back to winning ways when the MotoGP season starts in Thailand this weekend.

The Citizen reports that the Red Bull KTM rider’s seventh premier class season could turn out to be his most important yet as he tries to prolong his MotoGP career. His KTM contract runs out at the end of the season, and he is desperate to secure a ride post-2026.

The first thing he needs to do to achieve his goal is find the podium again. The 2016 Moto3 champion has not finished in the top three since the opening round of 2024, while the last of his two premier class wins came back in 2021.

Just caught up on each of the today’s MGP events. What a brilliant start to the year!

Pecco, I’ve stuck up for you for so long but FFS man. You could have stuck it out with that last qualifying lap instead of giving up every single time.

It probably has. He rode perfectly through the tests and was fine on Friday morning. Everything went to pot on Friday afternoon and he spent way too much time buggering around in the box. Today, he wasted FP2 completely when he should have been throwing a tyre on and making sure he could do a 28.

His problem seems to be getting on with things and riding around minor set up issues like the Marquez’ and Digi seem to be able to do.

felt for Digia after he got yeeted by Alex early on - hopefully he can show us his true pace tomorrow
 
Nice tussle between Acosta and Mark until that tire blew.....really not sure how he stayed on that bike... I still think he's part alien :) Bez has dominated, as in the sprint, with Aprilia looking really good in those conditions. Brad sneaking a 7th t ogo with his 5th in the sprint.. good weekend overall
 
Brad's got to figure out how to match Acosta if nothing else, doesn't need wins, podiums, pole positions ... but don't be outshined by your team mate

glad to see Aprilia riders all on form to make things more exciting than a Ducati procession to yet another championship, not really a Jorge Martin fan, but also glad to see him in much better shape than his ill fated 2025 season

Insane Moto3 finish as well, 7/1000ths or something like that. Hard to believe it's "only" like the 7th closest ever, how does it get any closer than that?

Really fun opening weekend,
 
The Moto2 accidents were bad. David Alonso sliding unconsciously across the tarmac was terrible. Great to know he's doing well.

The Brazil circuit looks interesting. Could see some fun and games at turn 5 though. The layout suggests that basically from turn 11 to turn 5, the riders will only be on the right hand side of the tyre (apart from the main straight). So the left side of the tyre will cool noteably. Sort of like what happens at Misano or the Sachsenring.

I know it well, some elevation changes too.

I raced here many times when I was 7.

Aside from Pedro, KTM, NOT having a good time in Brazil - back of the grid for 3 of the 4 bikes

It was pitiful viewing. Hopefully Brad's Sunday prowess comes to the fore tomorrow.

I just wonder if KTM is that bad or Acosta that good.

Shades of Honda when Marc was upfront and no one else could ride it into a podium
