Was there a torrential downpour after qualifying? It was bone dry. So imagine my surprise when I switched over at 19:55 to find the race I'd delayed.
 
So we have the inaugural occasion of the baggers joining the circus today.

No Indians. And only 9 entrants so could be mega crap. Still better than the electrojunk though.
 
Brad's future is not looking good. Pit Beirer has come out and said KTM are not happy with where they are regards Brad, Maverick and Enea, and then goes on to say that they are still keen on Maverick.

With Acosta almost certainly joining Ducati, they will want continuity, but it seems like Vinales is the veteran they want to move forward with on the factory bike and likely to be joined by Alex Marquez (Alex wants a factory ride). That leaves the two Tech3 spots (for now, KTM's long-term finances and ability to run 4 machines is still not set in stone) and Beirer has made it clear that they are looking at youth.

“It looks like we have Pedro on a solid base now, where he can really fight for great positions a lot, I would say,” Beirer said.

“But we are not where we want to be with Brad, Enea and Maverick. So there is still some work to do.

"But yes, we believe in Maverick, and we want him to come back and prove to us that he will be the right guy to be also in the team in the future.”

Meanwhile, in Moto2, rising stars Dani Holgado and David Alonso sit first and ninth in the standings with the KTM-linked CFMOTO Aspar team.

Asked if KTM is already in talks with the duo over a MotoGP move, Beirer replied:

“We are definitely talking to them, and it's clear that the future is up to the young guys.

"We have to see, and maybe 850 is a chance to give Moto2 riders an even easier entry into MotoGP.

“But I know we are not the only ones talking to them!”

It would be a great shame if he were given the boot and I'd hope that he is given at least one year on the new bikes to show that he can still cut it.

I wonder if his management team is already in talks with other teams about a ride for next year. Not sure where he may end up though. If the rumours are to be believed, most of the available seats are already taken.

Well, 2 back row starts in a row don't instill confidence. Not doing anything in practice, then 8+ in Q1 :(

His team would be silly not be exploring potential alternatives.

I know Brad does have a lot of goodwill with KTM, they surely can't forget that a couple of years ago it was just him vs a horde of Ducatis, but if this year turns out to be a repeat of 2025 while Acosta can podium, then you can't blame KTM for exploring options.

Jirre, why the fook would you wanna go to Yamaha just to say you're in a factory team... if Ai Ogura goes there I'll smash his balls double time. There's no way that their bike is gonna be any good, surely not? Sure, it's new reg changes, but still, they haven't been able to produce a competitive bike for years now, so what will make them think they will suddenly have one for 2027.

BTW, Brad Binder is a not delivering, while Acosta is, so his time is done... he better find a new (better) seat asap.

In fairness, the 850s are going to be a complete lottery.

That said, someone recently opined that a straight 4 might be optimal for an 850 with less aero and no shape shifters... Yamaha's recently ditched config.
