Motor cycle / Scooter Licence

hey i am still riding my 125cc with my licence i got when i was still at school i figured i would never pass my drivers for a bigger bike so i bought a bike that looked bigger than what it really is.

Hi. I am 16, and before I get my learners I need to know whether I can buy a bike without a proper license. I have not been on a bike before and so I won't be able to ride it home. If you do need a license then I am in a catch 22 position as you need to know how to ride a motorbike to get a license and you need a license to buy a motorbike.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can buy a bike without a full licence, but you won't be able to ride it home unless you have a learner's (and it's the legal size for you to ride, being 16). if you haven't ridden one before, I wouldn't recommend riding it home :) Many places do deliver, or you can get a 3rd party bike delivery company to get it home for you.

Thanks a lot. Would I be able to buy one from a dealer, or does it have to be second hand from a private dealer.

Hi guys. I want to by a motorbike for my son to race. The bike has no papers and had been bought and sold alot. I have taken it for police clearance. Everything is OK. Snag came at the licensing department. Says the bike is flaged as stolen, scrapped. I have phoned the police station where it was originally to have been reported stolen. They cannot find anything. What do I do from here. I have done everything humanly possible.

AFAIK if it's not going to be used on a road then it doesn't need a license.

If it's for track use you don't need to licence it.

Why even bother?

As with cars. You don't need a licence to be able to buy a vehicle, but you do need one to be able to test drive it, drive it home, and of course, drive it in general.

Correct, you will only need (in the case of a car) a license to finance one and (in the case of Bike) a learners license is all that some banks ask for.
