Hi there,

I recently bought a new motorcycle (125cc scooter) from a private owner. According to my understanding, I need to do a roadworthy test before I can change ownership in the traffic department.

How much does it usually cost to Roadworthy such motorcycles? While trying to search for centers close to the Southern Suburbs, I only came across those that charge R300. Isn't that too much? Could anyone please suggest any cheaper Roadworthy test centers in Cape Town, preferably in the Southern Suburbs?

Secondly, the right side mirror of my scooter has a crack, but the panel contains another small square mirror. Is there a possibility to fail the roadworthy test due to the cracked mirror?

I would highly appreciate some assistance. It's the first time I'm purchasing a vehicle.

Thanks :)

R300 sounds about right. They weren't very thorough with mine. Just try your luck. If it fails, then fix it. You shouldn't pay the fee again if you fix it within a certain timeframe... Around 2 weeks or so iirc

Is it? I though R300 is a bit too much for a scooter, considering a friend paid R270 to get his car roadworthied. Thanks though :)
