Seriously, by mistake? I make as many mistakes as anyone but I've never mistakenly run a stop street or been a passenger in a vehicle which ran a stop street by mistake.

Hardly anyone stops at that intersection. However, there are also low hanging trees which restrict visibility, forcing cars to creep over the line to see.

Cars are the problem. If these people weren't driving their cars there wouldn't be two families in sorrow.

There's no doubt that thousands of lives are destroyed every year because of cars.

How many people must die on our roads before the government comes to its senses and bans cars.

There are road rage cases in first world countries everyday. The thing is that (except US) it usually ends up with a fist fight and a black eye. Not a bullet.

Even an efficient police or justice do not prevent stupid drivers from driving stupidly... It would be very easy otherwise.

Cars have a legitimate purpose, carry people, car accidents are not cars' purpose but incidental. The purpose and main functionality of a gun is to destroy/harm.
 
Actually, the main purpose of a gun is to stop a perpetrator of evil from starting or completing his deed. It is the only really-accessible instrument that defends life in the most extreme situations. That is a legitimate purpose.

No, that's an incidental psychological effect. The main purpose is to shoot a bullet.

In any case, a beating would have been way better. Gun ownership has never reduced crime rates, look at US vs Europe. Only the NRA and South Africans believe this, it only fuels violence and escalates it.
 
A witness, who was reversing out of his driveway at the time of the incident, explained to Express what he saw just before Jansen van Rensburg was gunned down. Jansen van Rensburg was driving a dark grey Isuzu bakkie and the suspect was in a white VW sedan.

“I was taking my children to school when I saw two cars coming down Carp Road. The guy in the white car skipped the stop sign and just randomly stopped in the middle of the road. Jansen van Rensburg tried to drive around the white car to overtake it. The white sedan also turned right into Daeraad Road, with Jansen van Rensburg following him,” the witness recalled.

Jansen van Rensburg stopped his car on the side of the road, a few meters behind the sedan. According to the witness, he initially thought the two were travelling together and got lost.

Huh, besides that the eyewitness story isn't sound, did something happen earlier between the two drivers?

Where do they say that and even if the victim physically assaulted the murderer, it depends what kind of assault it was. Serious or Common.
Self defense does not work in this case unless the victim managed to somehow disable the shooter's vehicle. Otherwise the judge will ask why did the murderer not simply drive away. Actually the state can and probably will make a case of premeditated murder. The shooter knew he is in the possession of a firearm and just waited for the victim to come close were he was sure he can kill him execution style at point blank range.
