Not in my stores it aint! :-( That is the reason why Vodacom has scaled down so much on the Moto models I think. After the Razr people just lost interest in Hello Moto's. So it there was no point in having all those Motorola models available if no one wanted them. It is a pity really. I rather like these new Android Moto's.
 
I think Vodacom & MTN will warm up to Motorola again....just give it a bit of time.

Can't you find me one of these in your warehouse? (Motorola Aura) Still think it's one of the funkiest designs I've ever seen!

I am sorry...but we do not sell make up compacts....only cell phones. :twisted:
 
Well, there is the problem of the locked bootloader and no HDMI out and signed files and no gingerbread. Its got a fair amount of limitations really. I still would definitely not mind one for sure.

@kingrob, she's not keen on a BB, and had a V360 clamshell a while back.

I had one of those clamshells too V1050 I think - awesome phones :).
 
Know this is a bit old.

I got the Defy Monday of this week on Red Bull Mobile from Hell C.

The SIM card refuses to get internet on this phone. I put it in my 3GS, Works perfect out the box(Obv no 3G) but Edge pops up and I can browse, Put my Vodacom Sim in the Defy, Connects straight to the VC 3G network.

No 3G/E/GPRS icons or anything pop up with Hell C. I can't even dial 140 to get to customer support. Been into the Hell C near me everyday since Monday and no one can sort out this issue. Even their demo models with sims in them can't recieve signal. Yet all their other demos from Red Bull work.

This phone simply doesn't like this sim card, dunno what to do from here on and I'm loosing my patients with useless Cell C.

I'm still in my 7 day peroid, can I cancel my contract?

Has the internet connection been set-up on the phone? /apn etc...
 
Thats the thing..When you go into APN settings with the RBM sim card, its blank and you can't add anything in. Min you put another card in it all shows up.

Dial *147#, select setup phone or what ever, it then says "Could not complete request please call 140", call 140, just says Network Busy and puts down, call 084140, that works, says do you want to setup GPRS/MMS, click 1, says You already have GPRS setup and it's showing up on the system that it's all working. Dial 084140 again, go to tech support, it then says "Sorry the system could not complete your request" and puts down.

But I put the RDM Sim card in any other phone and it works fine.
 
I see Nashua mobile has the Defy on a casual chat 100 for R139 per month.(A banner on this site:p)
I haven't heard good things from Nashua mobile,so my question is....
Whats the catch?

A bit late, but better late than never, right? :p

Excellent phone. Android based with all the usual Google goodies and access to the Android store. Bluetooth file transfer wasn't one of the included functions (weird), but was quickly sorted out with the necessary app from the Android store ("Bluetooth File Transfer" app).

The touch screen is very responsive and quite easy to use, unless you haven't used a touch screen phone before, then it takes some getting used to. The flipout qwerty keyboard is also a nice feature for quick typing. The only reservation I had about the keyboard was that it doesn't have individual external keys, and has a full rubber-like surface. But my sister hasn't had any problem with it.

Only drawback with these other smart phones is the lack of a BIS equivalent package.

Edit: Forgot about the camera - pretty good shots at 5megapixel.

Only gripe is android 2.1.and as far as I can tell wifi tethering isn't allowed. Screen and build quality isn't that great either.

Upgrade to 2.2 is coming in June I think Moto South Africa said. I dont know what you talking about...I think the screen and build quality on the Defy is great. Solid phone.
 
And I meant you're locked out of tethering by the network supposedly.
