Talking about product placement... Microsoft with their surface tablets have been popping up everywhere. Movies and Series.

I remember back in the day when all phone product placement was Nokia

A bygone era....

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) 7/10

Good watch; high action & drama; ticks many boxes. I still feel that lengthy running time could be reduced to under 2hrs.

Oh & hectic Samsung & Audi product placement though Stark's 2nd Gen R8 is a looker

Tony must be down on his luck. Audi, really. Even Batman looks concerned...

"Wanted by the Chinese mafia, a New York City bike messenger escapes into the world of parkour after meeting a beautiful stranger." Interest look into the world of parkour.

Million Dollar Arm (2014) 7/10

"A sports agent stages an unconventional recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball." Better than expected despite the fact that Saffas don't identify with baseball. Rather touching.

Both the missus and I really enjoyed this, and neither are Cruise fans.

One of the best of the franchise.

San Andreas (2015) - 5/10

I Can't believe that San Andreas and Jurassic World made more money at the box office than Terminator Genisys.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) 6.5/10

Finally got around to watch this acclaimed movie. It's not amazing but it's beautifully shot; stylish & very eccentric.

Tomorrowland - 6.5/10

Was not going to watch it due to bad reviews but some posters above indicated it's good. And I have to agree.

Age of Ultron - 4/10. Just lots of explosions and crap, but no coherent story. I like mindless action at times but this film fails even at that. Too many superheroes doesn't work so well in live action.

Coherence (2013) 7/10

"Strange things begin to happen when a group of friends gather for a dinner party on an evening when a comet is passing overhead." Smart; clever & well told. Proof that big budgets & big stars are not necessarily needed to make a quality movie.

Terminator Genisys (2015)

The best Terminator movie so far. Great acting, action, awesome CGI...can't fault this much. 8/10

Jurassic World (2015) - 7/10

It definitely lacks the awe and charm of the first one. There wasn't even much of a buildup to revealing the I. Rex, nothing like seeing the first Brachiasaurus and Dr. Grant finding out about the T. Rex in JP. How much me being 7-years old when watching the first one influences this, I can't be sure. There were some nice touches of nostalgia, notably when the two kids find the original visitor's centre and the famed JP theme sound is played in the back ever so softly. The inner child in me was also happy that the T. Rex was restored as the king of lizards as I never forgave them for allowing the Spinosaur to kill it. :p I did miss the animatronics, they helped the original feel real. The film is certainly over-the-top at times, but turns out to be a solid sci-fi action adventure with nice touches of nostalgia.

I do think there is some accuracy within the film though. I think that if something like this was possible it would most certainly be blown up to epic proportions and be heavily commercialised, with Jake Johnson's sarcastic quip that the naming rights to dinosaurs be sold to companies not being all that outrageous. I think it is a good analogy for the world we live in.

San Andreas - 4/10
What a disappointing movie. Expected more. Not even the Rock can save it. Too much Hollywood drama and over the top CGI and too little story. Avoid.

Poltergeist - 6/10
Not too shabby. But too similar to the original. But not as scary as many other horrors out there. I expected more. Could have been worse though.

Insidious chapter 3 - 7/10
Actually better than the first two movies. Rather scary and very atmospheric. Good acting and story. Enjoyed it.
