So its been a battle the last few months on of on of.

I've always used them and hence why I sticked with them, but as of late a lack of transparency makes me uneasy.

So any suggestions would be welcomed, preferably more than 3 sql databases and a reliable Cpanal.

elitehost.co.za you will never ever ever look for different hosting ever again

+1 to elitehost

i was with them for about 8 Months and for R35 you get serious bang for your buck. But when you see unlimited its only emails db's storage etc etc not CPU cores and RAM those are locked at 1Gb and 1 Core. So your website or platform might out grow the server like mine did and i then moved to a VPS where id recommend host1plus.com. Thanks to the good DrJohn for the recommendation.

Mmmmm, for a trail I will move my one forum over to elitehost, since I received a lot of good feedback from people with them,

The forum is muscletalk.co.za , now see I have no idea what cpu and ram specification I need to look for...

Has anyone used Frikkadel.co.za ?

That looks like guys I can work with!! Great sense of humour

I can second Hetzner - since they moved to their new Midrand data centre and dumped MTN Business they've been rock solid. They have dual grid power feeds, proper generators, dual backbone feeds and good pricing.

Please do yourself a favour and take a look at Oceanhost... Been with them for quite some time now, 0 issues and Martin Bester is really just incredibly helpful and a true professional!

FYI, was with Hetzner before this and changed due to various reasons... One was the ability for someone to brute force a password on an email account which then sent off too many mails to be logical or actually considered secure... Was some time back though, not sure if they have ironed these things out on the shared platform other than that yes they are one of the best if you're looking at dedicated!

I have heard about oceanhost before, and it was all good, but same issue why I don't want to move over to them or Hetzner, they are bit more expensive well double the price I'm paying atm for 5 sql databases.... 5 is the bare minimum I need.

And I know it's just a few bucks more, but if my trail site that forum seems happy on the new provider I'm moving all my sites and servers from afrihost.

I have two important criteria,

#1 As a principle man I prefer full transparency that's the reason I originally moved our high usage lines over to afrihost from mweb back in 2008 thorough 2011, I was and actually still am happy with afrihost regarding Internet, they really are good in my personal experience.

However I always had slight issues with their hosting, but they always explained in full what the reason was and etc etc, but ever since a few months ago ( technically since they and mtn became Ein körper doch zwei namen) transparency started to get loss and more standard replies was used.

#2 I would like up to 5 sql databases for more or preferably less than I current pay.

This Elitehost looks very promising I might add.

I noticed the following on elitehost.co.za, "We offer a 99.9%+ uptime guarantee as per our Service Level Agreement (SLA). If your site isn't available 99.9% of the time within a given month, we will give you a pro-rated credit for the downtime."

Does this apply to afrihost as 4 of my sites where down for a total of 6 days (144 hours, actually 146 hours in total, but in days it works out better 144 ) this month alone as per my ticket requests send.

Then they are out of the bag I want a a dedicated hosting provider a user pointed out to me in a previous thread that is not a viable idea to host with a ISP jack of all trades type.

You should speak to them about that, seems a bit out of the ordinary so they might be able to give you a deal.

Yeah I guess you have a point about the price thing, when you only have limited funds and have to make do you make do. Just saying... I would avoid the really cheapest offers though as the service that comes with that is generally really... Yeah :)

Afrihost is a great ISP. Me personally, I have invested the majority of my time and money into professionals... Real people that focus on and excel at what they do. You should really look at companies that focus on hosting in general as this is where the sugar is at.

Good luck!

No but if I were you I'd go for a hosting company that has live support. Is there any reason why you aren't considering Hostking like I recommended in my guide? Everyone that I've sent to them so far have been very happy. People are also always happy with Elitehost and Webspacebar. And Hetzner too but they tend to be bit expensive compared to what you can get at other places.

Anyone know if this is applicable to afrihost?

Sites where down for 4 hours in total today.
