With results that bad you sure its not due to bad line stats.
I have no idea..we have complained to Telkom who said our line is fine, and mweb guy has looked into it his side and said all appears fine so who the hell knows.

It's a no brainer now, rather pay less for kak speeds. Anyhow, with afrihost we can get a 4mg line for R200 more than what we paying now so that seems the best option.

Mweb all the way! I have been on Openweb (MTN, VB, IS, Altech), Afrihost, Webafrica, Cybersmart & TelkomSA. Nothing comes near Mweb.....

Telkom could learn a thing or two from Mweb....

This is crazy! I was about to sign up with Afrihost when I read this post:confused: currently with mweb and I'm quite happy with them, save for the price.

Mweb guy, is mweb reconsidering the pricing on the 2 and 4 meg accounts any time soon?

Mweb used to be a price leader, not a follower!

If you're in JHB, I would recommend giving IS (Afrihost) a try as the prices are far better than MWEB's and JHB users seem to have very few issues with the IS based accounts.

From a CPT perspective, IS (Afrihost, Axxess, Openweb - irrelevant of what special agreement the ISP has made with IS) has proven to be a balls up every time I've given them a chance, MWEB is a lot better for bandwidth quality (from my experience with Afrihost). Peace of mind = MWEB, as apposed to coming on MyBB to check if I'm the only one who's getting super ****ty speeds numerous times per week - with MWEB it's always good.

MWEB and Afrihost have good support when using the MyBB forums - as far as email support goes.. i don't have much to say about either except it's slow and MWEB is probably quite a bit slower than Afrihost with email support - but, the MyBB guys are on the ball (i'd say that MWEB Guy is a bit faster to respond than Afriman - but still, both very quick), and I generally only use MyBB for support requests.

Hi Gs47

There's been a lot of pricing movement in the ADSL environment between the different ISP's recently. We continue to keep our eye on the competition and subsequent product offerings. However it`s definitely not our priority to offer the cheapest possible services at all cost.

We rather aim to bring our subscribers the best possible value for money product. Yes, we do believe that from a network quality, AUP and shaping as opposed to throttling point of view our product offerings are the best in general. :)

I was absolutely horrified at your 2mbps pricing, but I can't possibly argue with your statement here.

Stay away from MWeb.
After 15 years as a customer they 'decide' that I'm 'abusing' their 'fair use policy' and have begun 'throttling' us to dial up speed. When I got a warning mid August I asked why and was told it maybe because my used for August was more than 10% higher that usual but our overall average use of 60gig was 'acceptable' and the warning was probably a mistake ( we don't download movies or music neither to we 'stream' apart from a few YouTube clips and the odd Skype call is mostly email and the usual software upgrades) Since mid September we have been throttled at least 3 times for a day or 2 (presumably to 'teach' us a lesson)Despite my numerous questions regarding how we are abusing this little heard of , vague Fair Use Policy. No one can (or will) say what the Cap is on fair use which when breached results in throttling to dial up speed. It has been suggested (by MWeb) that I upgrade my account but no one at MWeb can(or will) say what the new 'limit' will be ! Stay away MWeb uncapped is NOT uncapped. P.S have signed up with AH and all good in fact great (so far), interestingly enough I actually get a 1mbps download speed with AH, never got over 0.6 with MWeb and believed their 'story' that it was due to us being so far away from the Telkom exchange and high latency on the line. Same line same modem and AH are giving us what we pay for.
