Moving away from Openweb, needs suggestions for a new uncapped isp.

Have been with mweb before, was all good.

How's Afrihost? They are cheeper, but are they beter?

I was with mweb with 4mbps uncapped package. Can't complain about them at all - got good download speeds.
But have just moved over to AH as they are a lot cheaper than Mweb - so far no complaints.

I moved from afrihost to mweb, because mweb has gaming servers and afrihost doesn't... not for popular games anyway.

Mweb is excellent, except if you're doing over 500gb (apparently)

Afrihost is good if you stay within their thresholds... I havent had any complaints. AfriMan is a very helpful guy too! Depends on how deep your pockets are i suppose. One interesting thing is that my AH capped account performs on par with my uncapped account, and I havent reached any thresholds. So I would go so far as to say AH isn't shaped, only throttled on a 30 day rolling window.

I moved from MWEB to Afrhost this week. MWEB has excellent service, but Afrihost gets cheaper the higher your speed goes. This week so far (Monday evening to Friday morning) I've apparently done 26.1GB on my Afrihost account, and up to now at least everything has been going at full line speed (4M), so I reckon Afrihost is probably the way to go if you want >1M uncapped.

Afrihost was also far simpler to sign up with than MWEB, but that might simply be because I had a free account with them already.

Afrihosts biggest downfall is that they run on IS. So for now, my choice is MWEB. Waiting to see when they (AH) move to MTN, as MTN has fantastic peering but their network hiccups (judging by Hetzner) leave much to be desired..

I'm hoping Afrihost (totally unbiased)

PM me if you have any questions or if you'd like to give us a try :)

We use Mweb at work and I remote to a client network in another area that run on Afrihost. Safe to say, Mweb beats Afrihost speed and latency wise. I have a much faster experience online at work, than I have at the remote location, both running 4Mb lines :)

I also moved from mweb to afrihost because they are cheaper. I did over 200 gig in the first month but due to the price of hard drives I decided to stream more than I download and it streams very well some chanels stream even with downloads going.

To be honest with mweb you could download maybe even twice as much as you can on afrihost but petrol is going to R12 again next month.

I just got my second MWeb account up and running - had them at the office, and will be at home now as well. Even if they are a bit more expensive, I wouldn't necessarily go anywhere else. I haven't used AH in ages - so can't really comment on them.

Mweb no question.

This.
I am trying out the 2Mb Afrihost account though, which works quite well for me.

For 1Mb I would totally use Mweb. I have not had a moment of network issues or anything that would cause me to drop Mweb.
Seeing as Afrihost is a fair bit cheaper than Mweb on their 2Mb, I am likely to stay there until Mweb is willing to drop their 2Mb prices (I use around 30-50GB a month but have a few times gone up to 150GB).

Mweb 1mb uncapped. Averaging roughly 60gb per month. ( at home)
3/4 torrents per week (get most of my dl's elsewhere)
A few you tube streams per week and some light browsing.
From what I have been reading on some post it goes,
Afrihost for cheaper pricing
Mweb for great product and service.
I was.tempted to leave Mweb and join Afrihost because of affordability, and giving a small misunderstanding with Mweb which almost caused me to cancel their service. I still remain with Mweb due to the dedication and effort from Will@Mweb and Mweb Guy to resolve our misunderstanding. And for that effort and determination to help even the little guy, I will gladly fork out I little extra each month just to have that peace of mind that every client gets red carpet treatment usually reserved for deep pocket customers. For this Mweb gets my vote of approval and is my choice for an Internet Service Provider....

I have no grounds to judge Afrihost, there are many post stating they are a good Isp.
I guess maybe read more post investigate how service for Isp is in your area and make up your own mind at the end of the day. It is you that will have to fork out the cash irrespective of which Isp you chose...

For me... Viva Mweb...:D
