Moving to CT

Well while we're speaking about them. Any opinions, thoughts ?

People ether love it or hate, no fence sitters.

I've worked with ex-Amazon employees who have been shell shocked by the Amazon system. They have all left due to the culture and not enough money could keep them there.

I also know of people who love working at Amazon and no regrets, or battle scars and they love the company.

And this is across all job titles and roles.

It's borderline insanity and the cloak and dagger stuff is even worse when you work with them externally.

Of the friends I have there I take the negative and multiply it by 10 to get to what I think is a real world perception because the Koolaid is VERY strong with all of them.

Jeez even the ones who have left there won't complain only quietly and to a point and then shut down.

Care to elaborate on the cloak and dagger and Koolaid ?

Unfortunately I can't on the cloak and dagger...for that very reason.

The Koolaid though is how there is more than enough stuff in the public domain as evidence of how they operate but people working there will tell you the exact opposite or that they are lying or that it's "different" or you'll only understand once you are on the inside.

Got it.

Thanks for the help man

But probably between 10-14k. I have two little dogs so would like to find somehting with a little garden if possible.

The two dogs are going to make your life a pain in the arse. Lots of places don't allow cats/dogs, or only allow cats. Everyone, and I mean everyone, I know who has a dog but doesn't own their property lives Muizenberg/Kalk Bay side because its so hard to find a pet friendly place with a decent side yard for their dogs. Also, the closer you get to town the less likely you are to find a place with a yard.

Regarding the water situation, it is a lifestyle adjustment. For example, we catch shower water and washing machine water for flushing. We buy all our drinking/cooking water because we both earn reasonably well. I bath with a 10L bucket 2-3 times a week. Use a basin and a cloth to do a wipe down in between that. My bro does the super quick shower thing.

I would be open to looking at buying.

But again have no idea where.

Sheesh that water thing will be quite an adjustment

I thought that happens almost everywhere.

Cartwright Corner on Adderley Street allows dogs, its about a 15 minute walk from Wembley Square, although starting prices are from 1.5m

TBH not sure why you wasting time on the forum and havent packed up your bags and moved down already - no brainer really.

People live with dogs in flats?

I've seen people in Istanbul living in the city in apartments with massive dogs. They just take the dog for a walk or 2 everyday. They are perfectly fine with living indoors if brought up that way.

The traffic is just not worth it!

Unless you live AND work in the CBD.

Actually don't come to CPT. The water situation is extremely dire for the next few months at least and with more and more foreigners coming to Cape Town, it's just making the situation even worse. It won't be worth giving up what you have now just for money.

Interestingly enough (yes I know it is OT!!) I have read many recent articles indicating that CT is welcoming and even encouraging tourists/visitors to visit at present.
