Hey guys. I apologise if this has been asked..

I did use the search bar for it.

I may have an amazing opportunity in Cape Town.

What would you do if you were in my situation with the water situation?

It all depends on how much money they are offering and the location.

If it is CBD, it is most probably not worth it, unless money is insane!

The traffic is just not worth it!

if you are going to be making the same or more, then the decision is quite simple

if you are going to be making less, then it depends by how much

Money is almost double....

It seems to be very near CBD. I’m not very clued up on CPT. But near Wembley Square Offices

That near the middle of the CBD, traffic is a nightmare!

You do however have the option to stay in milnerton/tableview where you can use myciti busses which is does work just fine.

Actually don't come to CPT. The water situation is extremely dire for the next few months at least and with more and more foreigners coming to Cape Town, it's just making the situation even worse. It won't be worth giving up what you have now just for money.

You can live in town, there are places to rent in Wembley Square. So I would ignore the traffic issue, unless you want to live outside of town and then commute in.

I do see some flats for rent, 7k for 32Sqm through :(

50Sqm looking at around 12k.

Wembley sqaure is basically CBD.

Few things to consider here :

1. Double can mean a lot of things. R3000 is still double when you get paid R1500. But R3000 will not find you rent anywhere near cape town. (just a joke and example in one)
2. Housing in cape town is very expensive. VERY EXPENSIVE
3. Because of point 2 you will probably try to live closer to the Northern suburbs(it is a bit cheaper there), but then you will be sitting in Traffic. Public transport is non existent in the northern suburbs. You might have better luck looking at the Blouberg/Milnerton area since there is a Mycity service running.
4. Water bills are going to kill a lot of peoples budgets from this month. Keep an eye on this.

Your double salary might just get eaten away by CPT being so expensive.

edit. If you are single and dependent on the income then you might as well rent a small bachelors place in Vredehoek.

+1
I commute to about 800m away from Wembley, takes me just over an hour in the morning using MyCiti's express busses, Table View.
With a car it depends on time of day as well, after morning traffic (about 08h45 leaving the house), it takes me about 30-35 minutes to get to city center on average.

If you are going to live in the cbd sell your car if you have one. It's expensive owning a car in the city.

I wouldn't let the water situation be a factor - it's serious, but seemingly day zero is becoming less of a reality. Inevitably, the drought cycle will turn and there are so many new initiatives to counteract this in future that Cape Town will actually probably be way ahead of the curve through the next drought cycle.
