Ok,

So the Edgemead exchange is at capacity apparently.

I currently have an ADSL line, so why if I move 900 meters down the road they can't transfer the line?

Is there some issues that prevent them from doing it?

Anyone that can give me an explanation regarding this it would be great!

They call it an outdoor line transfer, they are able to transfer your analogue and dsl portion simultaneously if line is Telkom DSL... Can you confirm number that you contacted where someone said they are not able to transfer your line to the new premises...?

Telkom shop at Canal Walk.

I basically need my current line transferred as a new line at the new house.

I thought you wanted an existing line moved from current premises to new premises within the same area. Otherwise, i know that they do assist while you retain the existing number. At least, if they were not able to assist you with that request, maybe they should have provided various options that you can consider...

Well yes I do want existing line moved to new premises in the same area. Its 900 meters down the road.

There is a line there already but I want my current line to be moved there to.

Can you call 10217 or 10219 and say you want an outdoor line transfer done on your line and hear their response? Give them current physical address and other address that is 900 meters down the road as you say...

The line 900m down the road could be connected to a different exchange and could have a different code eg. 021 557 vs 021 558 and if that is the case you cannot keep the same number. Also, there needs to be ports available on the new DSLAM and the extra 900meteres could be pushing the length of you current line to much to keep you on this DSLAM.

Hi, thanks. They are on the same exchange as far as I know.

I live close to Edgemead High and the new house is by Edgemead Primary which is closer to the exchange.

I will give them a call and see.

Thanks for all your comments.

The lady said no cost involved.

So I hope its like that since I did say it must be a new line and not affect the current line...
