hello all.

we went house hunting today (we're looking at moving into a bigger place) and saw an ASESOME place in Radiokop - a new complex called "La Habana" that's being finished off now.

what i want to know is whether we'll have signal there?

we actually drove past a Sentech board there - the complex is about 2-3kms from it.

will the signal overshoot us?

just a thought... use it... don't use it

If I get a chance I'll take make doorstop(modem) past there and test it out.

You should be covered by my favourite friend - Tower 82.

If I get a chance I'll give feedback ;-)

doorstop? why is it a doorstop? not working?

i'm sure we'll be covered there. it's too far from the tower, i could see the tower on our way there.

Tower 82 is perfect for me. that's the one that i always connect to and am very happy with. :)

I'm 1.9km from the tower but for some reason have no coverage [xx(] Powerband is visiting me today at 12:30... so here's to holding thumbs [:D]

So, at the moment the modem may as well be a doorstop costing me R20 per day ;-)

also in radiokop slash honeydew. i feed daily off tower 82 at sentech... what a glorious base station 82 is... never drops me.
you say you have visual of the tower, are you talking about the tower at sentech satellite farm in radiokop or are you talking about the big big big mast sitting on the distant mountain, that one is 110 helderkruin, which when 82 goes down i pick up no sweat off 110, albeit bit weaker. where is habana complex, which street? im about 300m from tower 82. warning tho, when i drove around the area with my modem on the seat next to me in the car, i found that 82 is VERY directional, it seems to shoot up towards rock cottage, and down towards all that new development in the valley but got no signal from it at all on the side towards north gate (ala pro asm saying towers not omni directional)

so lets know what street you planning...

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?
 
BTW... just checking my charts.
Radiokop 82 is only a 2 sector tower, and does not beam to the North of itself, only 120 and 240 degree sectors, so beware.

I noticced that myself after MUCH consternation...

It seems I'm picking up a signal from 82 that's bounced off a cliff face 7km's away ;-) If that's possible ;-)

Yes that is quite possible but you wont connect as thats 14 ks, if you are connecting then maybe your modem has found a shortcut route somewhere - it happens [;)]
