I'm moving to a new place tomorrow and filled out a form at telkom to keep my old number and the adsl connection enabled. Basically, I'd like to keep my current line exactly as it is now. Telkom said that this proces would take up to 2 weeks, and that a technician would need to come set this up at the new house:(! Does anyone know why this straightforward process takes so long? And why must a technician be dispatched? Surely this could all be handled at their end?

Direct this query to this email, he is direct at Telkom and very helpful:

He got my line up and running in 1 day.
