OK some quick opinions please on MP3 tag editors.

I have inherited a medium-sized mp3 library (around 80Gb) that I need to scan and tag.

I want the filenames to be changed according to the tags in a specific format (not that it matters much but I just want it to look the same as my existing library).

Afterwards I want to integrate into my existing library, but scanning and eliminating duplicate albums. I realise I might have to do this manually...

It must be accurate to pick up details (all mp3's are already properly tagged) and have accurate genre information. I use the genre sorting function quite a lot.

Cheers Rudi

The new winamp (v5.5+) has a function 'auto-tag', just right click on a song (or songs, thousands if you want) > send to > Auto-tag

it picked up about 90% of my songs correctly (even afrikaans [fpolisiekar stuff, not kurt darren related music])

not too sure if it changes the filenames, but it does tag the genre as well + Album the song came from...

I recently tried MediaMonkey v3.1 and was very impressed with the auto-tagging and auto-organizing that it can do.

Most of the taggers get their tags from different Amazon sites and you need to check through a couple to see which one is the most accurate for your album. That takes a bit of time.

I Auto-Tag with winamp and use the tag to filename feature in Mp3Tag mentioned above, thus far it has worked out great for me.

Did you just make the tag editor?? Usually, I use this MP3 Converter to make some change on the format and parameters of the audio files, but if you just edit sth, this software may not be the best one. any way, you also can try it as you like.
