The body of a farmer was found on his farm in Ermelo, Mpumalanga police said on Tuesday.

The 77-year-old was found by a family friend in the house on his farm De Emigratie on Monday morning, said Colonel Leonard Hlathi.

The family friend arrived at the man's house on Monday morning, when he failed to open the gate of the farm for his workers to enter.

"The man stays alone on the farm and he usually opens the gate for the workers every morning," said Hlathi.

The family friend, who had a key to the farm, opened the gate and noticed that the sliding door was off the railings.

"He went into the house and found the farmer in one of the bedrooms," said Hlathi.

He said it was believed that the man was suffocated as he was found with a piece of plastic over his face.

"He did not have any other visible injuries but an autopsy will be done to determine the exact details of his death," said Hlathi.

One of the farmer's two firearms was also missing from the house.

"We believe that the firearm was stolen but police will investigate the matter and determine if any other possessions were stolen from the farmer's house," said Hlathi.

No arrests were made and police were investigating.

I hope they catch these criminals before they use the gun on their next victim(s).

Because a 77 year old is such a threat that you have to kill him.

Knock him out, blindfold him...do whatever. Killing him is entirely unnecessary.

From your own source!

The farm has a wide range of seasonal activities which include sheep farming and sheering in October, as well as apple picking and packing between January and May.

Sure their are no agenda to kill farmers it just happens accidentally. ;)

Soon there will be no producers and all or most food will be imported so the savages win and Fudzy will get a hard on for it!

Exactly my point, yes this may be something else but the common denominator is WHITE MALE, FAMRER

The way Fudzy understands life and crime is that murder for a weapon is an automatic given and should be accepted. AFAIK he NEVER condemned one of these actions and ALWAYS create apologetic excuse for these savage vermin.

I would never hope for that. It's ironic that an 'agenda' gets tossed around when there the evidence in almost all cases aims towards the perp wanting guns, electronics and vehicles (most of which are just used as a means to get away from the crime scene) if that 'target audience' didn't fit farmers so well I would imagine there would be less of them murdered.

An excuse is different from motive, divorce yourself from your emotions you are going to get banned soon otherwise.

So if robbery are the motive to these crimes why are the victims killed violently in practically every case scenario? Explain the reason for that then if you mentally can get round to it!

Emotions? Lol, someone has to feel sorry or at least something for the murdered, butchers, tortured farmers.

You missed the point of my statement. If you can't keep on topic and stop playing the man then you have no place here, it's not constructive.

What? The number of farm attacks outweigh the number of farm murders substantially.
