MS Flight Simulator X

Jannie, what did you pay for FSX? Did you ever play the demo prior to getting the full version? The reason I ask, is that I played the demo, and was running at 1024 x 768 at almost full detail (my PC is a 64-bit 2.0Ghz AMD, 2Gb RAM and 6800GT AGP), without a glitch. So if I got the full version, can one still run it at the same detail as the demo version?

Well, I too am now sitting pretty with my deluxe edition from digitalplanet - who knew that they could actually get it together so fast?! ...heh, now that I'm safe from having my order cancelled I get to go and stir with got2gouge and see what he has to say for himself :p

(taking a calculated guess)
I would say,do not expect the High detail with high frame rates in the full version. Its a little more demanding than the demo.

Im playing it in multiplayer via my VM GPRS! Nice...

Do anyone else play this in multiplayer? A local 'server' would be better to join...

Hi Pofadder,

Believe me when I say that the full version uses much more system resources than the demo. The thing takes up 15gb of hdd space!! I was thinking of chucking in more memory(already have 1gb) and maybe a new graphics card, but i'd rather hang 10 and save for a brand new pc. Dont let the specs on the game cover fool you, it needs a helluva lot more. I paid R302 for mine, its so much cheaper here than in the USA or UK. I thought I was gonna get it from there, but would have paid like R800 or so. Its def the best MS flight sim ever!:D

Thanx, Jannie. I suspected that the demo was "scaled down" for the sales-pitch thing. R302? That's not expensive at all, compared to the previous Flight Sims?

Not bad at all! That's normally bargan bin prices for MS games.
I'll stick with FS9 until I have a new system. 512MB of RAM and a GF Ti 4200 just doesn't cut it (can't even get it to look as nice as FS9 without serious stuttering).

got mine two days ago, still sealed in package, too lazy to install.

Might install it today when my "New Age Racing" arrives. Kill two birds with one stone.

Also still waiting for my joystick to arrive. having difficulty playing the other fly simulators on my keyboard.

From what I understand X-Plane is the one to get? I went over to X-Plane.com to get X-Plane + New Global Scenery (Entire World) they charge $69 and want $50 to ship (says 4weeks to ship here to Joburg) - so i mailed have2have and they say theres that they sell has 8dvds as well is the latest version, and they can get it to me in bout 1 wekk. The Have2have version seems about $120 with shipping - about a dollar more, but 3weeks quicker.

Phoned post office on Friday they say will have to pay VAT too if i buy from X-plane, so think i am going the HavetoHave route.

Does anyone know a joystick i should get ?

Thanks

Hi

I know nothing about MS flight simulator, but im interested so here are my questions?

1) Is it just a simulator, or is there combat involved?
2) I saw it at BT games, and it looks like there are 1000 expansions to the game, why is that?
3) Is it multiplayer and what is the multiplayer like if there is no combat? do you fly different planes or control the same plane eg. pilot and co-pilot.

Questions are always welcome! I’ll answer them shortly…
1)Sorry Macguyver1! Flight Simulator is what the name says. Simulator Only. But nothing is stopping you of having some 'fake' combat...go chase a airplane or something.

2)ok....you must have visited some other BTGames site that I don’t know about... FSX has NO expansions YET.

3)You have:
Free Flight Mode -Choose with what, where, when,in what weather you want to fly
Missions -Name says it all.
Multiplayer -You play via LAN/Internet. You can be pilot,co-pilot or even Air Traffic Control. You can also use your mic. and talk to the other players.
Learning Center –Learn it all!!
See this Main Menu Screenshot of FSX:

There are multiple planes in FSX that you can chose from. You will always be the Pilot, except if you join another player in a plane via Multiplayer mode.

I've just bought a copy of FSX Deluxe Ed. [CNA are now stocking it for 400 (regular version=300). That's 100 cheaper than Incredible Con]

*****I can't get it to install properly.*****
It appears to work, then with DVD 2, it gives the following error:"MSXML4 SP2 Component not installed. Reinstall Flight Sim."

When you insert the DVD 1 again, it automatically comes up with a menu that says REPAIR or REMOVE. I chose REPAIR and it came up with the same error.

Anyone know what's up with this thing?

MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2

The idea is to install the complete pack and not just one file of it.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2b-b4f2-46da-b4b6-c5d7485f2b42&DisplayLang=en
All the files there and if that does not work:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...CF-3BCF-4009-BE21-27E85E1857B1&displaylang=en

This was caused by some previous installation that went corrupt. The first link Should fix it. If none of the above links solve your problem...Formatting will always solve it.
