In my case I was told the changing topography of the area (Centurion) is the reason why I have no 3G/EDGE reception. In Brackenfell and Parow they'll probably say the topography is too flat (except for Protea Hights maybe). And the only high structures in Brackenfell are the millions of "braaikamer" chimneys :)

@Trafeye

I'll have the coverage guys look into all these cases and ensure that some toes get stood on, please believe me we doing our best.

I know you do MTN DD. I (and I'm sure the others here) appreciate your efforts. It really helps to have access to someone with the right technical answers inside the "fortress". It's terribly frustrating to deal with the help-desks.

I can understand that Trafeye, but let me just tell you MTN and MTNSP along with MTN & MTNSP training are trying there best to try and expand knowledge across the MTN & MTNSP spectrum but its a process and I believe they will get there..........

In the mean time I'm here and I'll continue doing my best to try and keep you guys happy. The best I can also suggest is to spread the word of www.myadsl.co.za to your friends, family and so on I can start and filter things down to the rest of the organization. I think this site is a brilliant forum to gather idea's, share in knowledge and so on I can assure you I don't know everything there is to know and I learn something new everyday from you guys and hopefully you guys from me.

So let’s start here.

MTN DD,

I saw an ad in the Beeld newspaper yesterday of a new MTN security camera offer. Like you did with Blackberry maybe you should post some info on this new path MTN is taking.

MTN DD,

I don't know what it was called - and I haven't got the newspaper anymore. It looked like some webcam that one can now get on a MTN contract that seems to send video footage to another phone. Not sure.

I'm pretty sure it's SPOT.

What I'll do is create a new Thread as SPOT,

Check it out and let me know

Thanx MTN DD. It's what I was looking for. I like the concept a lot. It's wireless and can be "hidden" to some extent. On the down side it's also the perfect toy to hide in private places ...

The Vodacom 3G coverage map is also a bit dodgy there is a road going straight through a green strip by my house lol but nothing serious.

I think Vodacom and MTN uses the same base-map for their mapping applications as I've seen the exact same road errors on both where I stay. The maps have some streets where there are none and miss streets where there are some (and I stay in Hippo St according to both maps although my street is called Rhino) - but I guess it's not intended to be used for directions.

I am thinking about getting an MTN F@astlink E620 and went to the shop. I asked whether it was Network Locked and they said 'yes', but other people have said no - which is it?
Could I use the card on Voda or Cell C when my contract expires?

I can guarantee you that it's not locked

No phones are network locked anymore
