maybe you can help me with the following ...
I have an existing MTN Pro-Call contract with a Nokia 9300i phone that I took out in Dec 2005. My work activities have evolved in the last six months to the extent that I now need a Blackberry solution. With the Nokia I have to pull my e-mail when I have time to sit down and do so (not often enough). Blackberry will work much better for me now. What are my options with MTN? How can I get Blackberry without changing my number? Is there a way to convert my current contract to Blackberry - and if so what will it cost?
If a conversion is possible I assume that I would have to buy the handset seperately. What models are available at what cost - and when will new models become available?

Maybe this will help you
If you need BIS/BES loaded you can just phone your SP and ask them to load it for you.....

I've got an Elan P111 PCMCIA to PCI adaptor and I'm using an MTN Huawei HSDPA data card. My problem is that my pc always bluescreens on first boot up, if the data card is not inserted then as soon as I insert it it crashes or I get a msg invalid card. However on a subsequent boot it works fine. I've flashed my motherboard bios to the latest version however this still does not rectify the problem. I would appreciate any help on this matter.
Trafeye said:If I were in your position I would take out the card and unistall all software/drivers loaded that was done with the original isntallation. I would then re-install the adapter - but strictly in the order specified by the manufacturer - software/drivers first - then the adapter itself last. The Elan adapter is very sensitive to this order. Some people have dowloaded the latest drivers first. I have been successful with the original ones that came with the adapter.
Try posting your problem in the hardware forum as well. There may be some settings that someone can help you with without doing it the way I suggested.
Are you from a network snakepit? Who is giving out free boosters?
I was with vodacom when I needed it and I logged many calls they said that they would advise me on buying a booster antenna at my own expense and I did. No free boosters. But it sorted out the problem and was easier than begging vodacom. And I can take it with me when I move. So I am sorted.
But free boosters sound awesome
I got myself a new HSDPA card (Fastlink) and contract based on 3G coverage as per the MTN coverage map (http://www.mtn.co.za/default.aspx?pid=11789).
This map indicates that my area (Hennopspark, Centurion) is well covered with a 95% "signal available" rating where I stay. In reality I have zero 3G reception anywhere on my property (inside and outside). I even drove around with my laptop to test for 3G signal at verious spots in the area and where I got reception it was very weak (1 bar max for short periods).
I phoned the MTN data help desk (5551) but got nowhere with them. I complained on hellopeter.com and was told that their maps are accurate but that they will come back to me. Hasn't happened yet - and the map is obviously not accurate.
My 3G reception is perfect in Midrand (where I work) so there is nothing wrong with my card or settings.
Do these guys know what they're doing?! I'm not impressed.
BTW my company Vodacom HSDPA card works great at home.
Can anyone help me with info. I have a K3772-z modem and open to all networks. I'm using mtn and 8ta sim cards and load them with data. Now my question is. Does one get a special card for modems or will these card work well enough? I heard people talking about datacards. What is the difs?
