That link gives a "page not found" (as already previously reported).

I need assistance in being able to send and receive faxes through the data card.

Nope you can only send and receive faxes with the Sierra Wireless

Coverage Map

And the coverage map? I don't really want to hack into your intranet.

MTNDD, if its not to much of a hassle could you set up a sticky thread with that link and make announcements when there are updates to the coverage map?

Yes - MTN 3G Coverage SUX - Particularly in Cape Town

Hi all - this is my first post here. Great site, great forum.

I agree that MTN's 3G coverage is really pathetic.

I bought an MTN 3G handset (Nokia 6680) when the service was launched around a year ago and at that time there was 3G coverage in the CBD, the Waterfront and at Canal Walk and that was it. One year down the line and I have noticed NO CHANGE WHATSOEVER!!! In a YEAR!!!

Meanwhile Vodacom seems to have 3G enabled all over the city and most of the suburbs.

Furthermore, the much hyped "Y'Ello Broadband" that MTN made a big deal about is simply EDGE, which never seems to offer a download speed significantly faster than GPRS. I don't think one can ever get faster than 64kbps in practice on EDGE.

Also, while I'm having a moan, why in the course of the last YEAR, have there been no changes to the data bundles that MTN offers? You can get either 10MB for R10, 100MB for R100, 350MB for R350 but no multiples of these bundles. Why can't I get 50MB for R50? I guess it's all irrelevant now anyway, since I can get myself a Virgin mobile prepaid sim, use that to connect and then pay 50c/MB.

Looks like I made the wrong decision at the time, going for MTN.

It's just so Funny that everyone always mentions Virgin but they run on Cell C's network..... I think that in a very very very godd area if any they might have Edge....LOL.

It's not about the Size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the DOG.....

Can't speak for Cape Town, but where I'm from, I get Edge virtually everywhere I try. Edge speeds are not much different from 3G speeds, in fact, upload is faster. I get pretty good speeds on Edge when connected with good signal.

Good day,

Welcome to MYADSL,

In terms of MTN’S coverage – MTN’S Edge can not be measured up to GPRS, are you using the likes on http://212.19.68.252/speed.html to test your speeds? MTN have concentrated on launching coverage where there are user’s, usage and revenue, In terms of the bundles we have been working on those are the new ones have been signed off will launch those soon…………….

I’m sorry you feel MTN was a bad choice.

This is not the first complaint I've heard about coverage in CT. I understand with the mountain and all that, the value for money and coverage per tower is not nearly like it is in the platteland.

Is this why CT has been relegated to the dregs? I mean - it's one of the biggest Cities in our country... whats up?

Like they care?
Still doesn't answer the question.

Edge is useless

Want to agree that edge is definitely not a substitute for 3g and to call it "Yello broadband" is laughable. Complained about my 5 KB/s edge connection 2 months ago. Got a call from MTN and I provided my details. Asked for a response and received "the guys responsible for the tower has been contacted", then nothing and connecting edge now at 4 kB/s!

I can assure you that I do care and I wish there was something I could directly I can assure you that I do care and I wish there was something I could directly do about the coverage, unfortunately there's a department in charge of coverage and I can assure you that they are doing the best they can
