MTN BIS problems caused by undersea cable breaks

Take it this means MTN doesn't have any international connectivity redundancy for BIS??

"Arnold said that MTN anticipates a resolution of the issues within the shortest period possible, looking at all various alternatives."

Um.... Let me think.... Oh Seacom, SAT3, SAFE? hello!! no redundancy for such a big company? Come on.... Very easy to blame someone else is it not?

I'm sure MTN is connected to plenty of other cable systems but they're probably using that capacity for the customers who pay a little more. ;)

does BIS and BES connections go different routes?
seems many times when there are notices of BIS outages, BES is not affected?
maybe thats part of why we gotta pay that R140pm for BES? Better connection?
I would think BES users should experience the same issues as BIS...

Dear MTN. I see you have quite a nice, large budget. Please can you allocate just a fraction of that to international redundancy. I note that we now have THREE (yes, you are reading correctly) international cables to choose from. Many of the ISPs are already purchasing such redundancy and you claim to be an IP player, so why not follow best practice and get yourself a second link.

Awaiting your response with anticipation.

PS. I have to confess that I did think that part of the six years of BIS subscriptions I have been paying for was going towards some type of redundancy, but maybe that's just naive old me.

Dear Customer due the fact that we have found to no loophole to screw customers over in the T's & C's of our BIS agreement with RIM. So therefore we see no real value in having redundancies for BIS, our redundancies are reserved for MTN data customers who get properly screwed by our bad network and customer service.

Mine was working up until Monday morning when I switched off the BB, when switching it back on no BIS. Wife's BB still works though, told her to keep the sucker charged up. Seems like when you put the phone back on again it does not want to register with the network.
