MTN Black Friday Discussions

These data only deals suck ass.

I'm currently getting data + minutes, and with the deals already out, there's no middle ground with something like 200 minutes + 20GB data...

Is that true? My brother was using data share with his 2016BF 50gb promo with his wife on a pay as you go simcard.
The monthly allocation was 50gb promotional data and 2gb standard data associated with the package. AFAIK only the 2gb was shareable.

Come to think of it there were a few guys who managed to wangle it but they soon closed that loophole...

Yeah same with dual sim
few managed to get with it , myself included

so for 149pm its 20 +10

il be happier with a 60gb anytime for 299 or even better with a 60 +30 for 299
60+30 is what you can get for R299, think someone earlier in the thread was impatient and took 30+30 for R299.

I'm happier with the R149 deal cause I have Internet at home, this is strictly for my phone. I won't use up all the gb.

Seeing as it's 10+10 and an extra promotional 10gb I think we'll be able to data share the 20gb non-promotional data but not the other 10gb.

yeah most probably work with just the 10gb anytime data and not the night or promo data

but yeah 149 for a phone or secondary internet isnt bad at all

for me its my primary internet so i need more data for money ...i dont need mins and smses

I think he is talking about Dual sim which I had on all 3 BF deals and it worked like a charm and was never charged for it.

I also managed to get dualism on my 2 BF contracts and was never billed for dualsim, weird but wonderful.

I tried to get a dualsim but was too late, they put a stop to it for these packages.

Wait so what happens when you take a data only one? How much are calls billed at? do you have to manually load airtime? Would be fine with that

This is once-off right? What is the recurring rate for the above?
I would be interested in taking data only R149 sim, plus load a recurring 100mins voice bundle. Cheap as chips contract, + load a phone.

Price remains the same for once off and recurring, actually costs slightly more then packaged deals, maybe R10 -25 odd range. With the bolt on services in general costing a bit more, the one day bundle for example is R10.00 more then the prepaid bundle.

While the bolt on bundles is nice and less hassle, you will get MUCH MUCH cheaper bundles to buy if you load airtime and buy bundles as needed. You can buy a daily 20min all network bundle for R10.00. hassle to load airtime, buy the bundle as needed, I don't recommend bolt on things, as you can get things done far cheaper via the *136*2# menu.

Liking your input in all of this. Most of your posts are of real tricks of value. Thank you.

Seeing as this will be my data sim, which network actually offers the cheapest calling rate per minute/second?

While telkom is 69c, I should remind you can activate MTN zone per second, on the my choice contracts, you get up to 100% discount on calls, it depends on time of day, network congestion and location you can average 50% discount per call made, before connecting a call it actually tells you how much of a discount if you have cell broadcasting enabled. It's R2.60 per minute on call per second, A high rate but doesn't take into account the average discount you will receive. It's still no telkom, but you can score a fair bit, and you stay with one network. :D
