MTN Black Friday Discussions

Night express doesn't roll over as it is a promotional data bundle, promotional anytime data doesn't roll over either, 60gb and 30 deal is likely based on the mychoice 10gig or 20gig, because of the price and being a special BF upgrade deal, I suspect none of the data will roll over, stand to be correct. ;)
Ya check the base package and assess how much is bolt on promo

Even with no roll over you will always have more data on the BF deal. Each month you get 60GB + 30GB night data, on the deal you took the maximum you can ever have is 40GB anytime and 20GB night (assuming there is no night express rollover)

The BF deal was MTN Choice Talk + s. 1GB and 200 minutes plus promo 10000 mtn minutes and 50gb data. Few managed to pull in a 2nd sim.

The 1gb was available for data share. But this is MTN Choice 10gb and above. Afaik the 10gb will be available for datashare. The other promo 10gb and nightdata will be restricted to the main SIM.

Is there any restrictions on datashare? In my mind this is a superior deal if I can split and share the 10gb. I could even spend R299 for the MTN Choice 30 and share 10gb for mobile use and the other 50gb for home router and have some night data for updates and stuff.

On my new BF upgrade, which is R149pm for 10+10 all day and 10gb night:

The +10 and the 10 night are promotional and valid 30 days only

The first 10gb rolls over and is valid for 60 days per allocation.

The first 10gb is also data shareable (improvement over the last black friday where only my 500mb was shareable)

All the above per the myMtn app

Based on last year's BF this year's are unlikely to be better than these "specialised" offers. MTN management said the 50gb deals were mainly user behaviour test accounts for future package structuring. (Side discussion at analyst's briefing). Would love to be proven wrong though.

So it had nothing to do with their falling share price during their crises in Nigeria? Being slapped with a multi-billion dollar fine?

That's fine, but the packages they've come up with don't suit me.

20GB + 100 minutes would be fine, but there's nothing like that...

Exactly, if they had this for R150 would've honestly taken it. Too bad they don't include any mtn to mtn minutes.

Nah, these were loss making packages for them. In other words we were the product....

The timing was too coincidental when these deals came about 2 years ago, literally weeks after they lost their appeal over the fine they came out with a deal that didn't make them much or any money, they wanted an increase in customers to help with their falling share price and now need to offer some decent deals to hold on to the customers they got with those deals.

Obviously this isn't how MTN would word it though.

DataShare is only available on a limited number of packages for example it is not on any Made for Me packages.

Guess they didn't learn because they couldn't offer us personalised offers based on our usage. Like mentioned above no halfway between voice and data. Either too much voice or too much data

But it's more the ARPU that matters vs just bumping up the customer numbers. Again they may have been massaging the truth but they didn't actually give out that many of these contracts over the various promotions they ran relative to the total.

But which bundle gets used first?
If the bundle that can get rolled over and be datashared rolls over for 60days that would be mighty impressive.

Anyone else just get an sms offering 10gb anytime + 20gb promo data + 20 promo night data?
