MTN Black Friday Discussions

The agent did ask me if I want new sim or if I would activate the package on the same one I already have, so I guess it depends on the answer you gave them. I asked for activation on my current sim, but am now thinking I should have gone with a new sim and upgraded my current one to the unlimited calls BF code.
Wait... so you can take out two deals?

For everyone thinking about taking the 36 month contracts and cancelling early - would you still be eligible for the next BF deal if you cancelled early? My thinking is that you wouldn't be seen as a BF client anymore because you cancelled rather than renewed/upgraded?

That is what I understoodfrom my phone conversation with the sales agent. She specifically asked if I would be activating the product on "THIS" number or if I wanted a new sim delivered to me. Best to confirm with sales as you might be able to activate the deals to more than one sim.

Called 135 and spoke to a rather rude lady that was absolutely clueless about the 500gb+500gb deal.

Asked a whole bunch of questions and has no tranfserred me to Retentions.

To be fair this is the most hassle I've had with MTN since I took the contract out in 2016

I am also curious about this but I also dont think so. Loyalty seems to be the game that allows us to get these deals. Maybe someone who cancelled and is now trying to get these deals can confirm if they are visiting this thread.

Well it seems like the deals get worse every year, so if you get a deal now that you like, just means you have an extra 12 months to enjoy and not lose it after 24 months

Or 3 years to get Fibre in your area.

In 3 years time I'm sure we will have uncapped MTN LTE and 1TB packages

Ask to be transfered to sales and give them the code. Was also tranfered from pillar to post until I was put through to sales.

The thing that I am curious about is if I have taken out a new contract or if I have "upgraded" my old one. I will phone back to confirm as I dont want to be paying for two things that do the same thing

Thanks, holding on for Retentions now... If i don't come right I'll ask them to transfer me to sales

So do I go for 500gb or 150gb, that is the question?

What would I do with the extra 350gb?

Thanks for confirming that it wasnt just an increase for vat
Just FYI I have no problem with the vat increase, if telkom can do it probably why cant mtn?

Also why are you an MTN cheerleader?

Because they aren't always a fault and it has been made clear in this thread people don't know what they sign up to as they don't read the terms and conditions. They do screw up and often but they also get things done right some times.

So I can't help but cheer for our corporate overlord :D :D :D

I also asked myself the same, but settled on the 500GB based on the idea that if I need it, it is there even though I am paying R200 or so more. As for now, all I know is I am viewing and downloading videos @ 720/1080HD whereas before I was trying to conserve data by using 360/480p. I also dont see myself needing to schedule nighttim data downloads anymore.

I got of the phone with retentions earlier. He guy that I spoke to seemed to know his stuff. I asked him about the current deals and he knew about them. I also asked if more deals will be coming out closer towards black Friday and he said yes it is possible. He said these deals are going to be available till 4th Dec (or somewhere around there, cant remember the exact date). He took my details and said he will call me back when better deals become available

Do you guys think i can get the 500gig + 500gig deal? Im a new customer.

I do have regular cell phone contract with them i think.

Also, i noticed the 1tb deal (can't afford it but i was curious, it states only can stream certain stuff like YouTube, deezer) that made no sense, what about spotify etc.

I would also like to know this as a friend is jealous of all this data I am getting. Try your luck with Sales and give them the code. If they say no, then ask for retentions and tell them you are looking into other service providers or something along those lines.

Does anyone have a full list of codes. I just got off the phone with a rep and he has no clue what the codes are.

I am needing a medium amount of shareable data, and some minutes. I am willing to pay between R200 and R400 for it. Any suggestions?
