This isn't trueFYI For those that took 36 month contracts the consultant mentioned they wont allow early upgrades, so if down the line they offer better deals e.g. BF22 you wont be able to upgrade.
I hope it isnt, just relaying what the consultant told meThis isn't true
How did you get then to give you the package on the new lines? I specifically asked if I add new lines to my account can I have any of these packages and it was a firm no, only for existing lines..Thanks for all the helpful posts. Mybb coming through as always.
1. Renewed my 2016 / 2018 BF data SIM. Was 60GB + 60GB @ R299, now 100GB anytime with datashare @ R299pm. I did request the 150GB + 150GB but the agent disputed its validity even with the product code provided in some of the posts. Given that my contract ends *today* I wasn’t taking any chances.
2. Busy porting in 2 new lines for the 550 minutes / 15GB data / 50 SMS @ R149pm.
Bye-bye Telkom you freedom fighter, Y’ello to the dark side!
That’s strange mine is 43gb (1.5gb day + 1.5gb night + 40gb anytime promo data)Upgraded to Made for me M R399 with 41GB anytime data, 400 mins 36 month
Consultant I spoke to said there’s a 10 day cooling period & if any better deals are available in that time he will contact me to see if I wanna change. Not gonna hold my breath though...I hope it isnt, just relaying what the consultant told me
I think she was referring to after the cooling off periodConsultant I spoke to said there’s a 10 day cooling period & if any better deals are available in that time he will contact me to see if I wanna change. Not gonna hold my breath though...
Correct. These deals are for existing MTN contract customers performing an upgrade/renewal.Hey guys, stupid question but do you need to be an existing MTN customer to get one of these BF deals?
I'm on Telkom Mobile but wouldn't mind getting a second SIM with MTN.
I've read through the last couple pages and see it's mainly about talking to the retention department.
Also, I've dialed 083 135 but don't get the "cancellation" option.
Some of the deals are good enough even if it means being tied up for 3 years.FYI For those that took 36 month contracts the consultant mentioned they wont allow early upgrades, so if down the line they offer better deals e.g. BF22 you wont be able to upgrade.
You get 1 free credit report a year, if you have not already taken the option, start with that.So I finally got through to MTN Sales - spoke to Josh who was very helpful.
Said he could give me the R499 500 + 500 GB as a new contract.
Went through the application with him, but 10 mins later I received an email from MTN saying:
"your recent application with MTN has not met our criteria and we are therefore unable to proceed with your request"
That is REALLY strange. My credit score etc are all excellent.
Wonder if it could be cause I bought a house in JAN and have only been here for about 10 months.
So now I need to wait to speak to their vetting dept on Monday and see what is going on!
Yeah, I signed up on ClearScore.com to check my credit report and that's on 690/705 - so the credit history can't be the problem. You get 1 free credit report a year, if you have not already taken the option, start with that.
If you had the inflated bill issue, I know I read here on the forum that people were declined because of the inflated bill error.
Hope you get it sorted.
That's an excellent credit score, they must bombard you with Credit offers in that appYeah, I signed up on ClearScore.com to check my credit report and that's on 690/705 - so the credit history can't be the problem.
Vetting dept is only open on Monday, so I will have to speak to them then.

, which I think is linked only to Experian.Going to check Transunion as well, but I don't think that's the problem. That's an excellent credit score, they must bombard you with Credit offers in that app, which I think is linked only to Experian.
I also use the clear score app but also signed up with TransUnion, between the 2 there can be differences...
Upgrades / retentions closed at 5pm. Hoping I can get the deal Monday
Fantastic! One agent I spoke to said they have extended the deal till the end of December, not sure how true it is. Another agent said 9th of December,
Bloody hell, they refused to budge more than 50 minutes for me. How did you manage it?Upgraded my BF2016/2018 contract (was 60+60GB @R299) to the BF2020 Retentions Deal: MTN Made for Me XS.
Spent almost an hour on the phone, mostly holding on for someone to assist me. Eventually a lady answers and I negotiate my deal. She refused to listen to any deal codes and told me she can get into big trouble with management.
Finally, I managed to get the following package out of her at R199 x 36 months:
550 minutes
51GB Data (50GB promo + 500mb day & 500mb night)
50 SMS's
Thanks guys for all the info & tips, I'm happyhave a great
Edit: Now I'm waiting for Jan / Feb to upgrade my other (wife's) contract. MTN usually offer their birthday deals during this period. Hopefully iPhone 12 will be available by then.
weekend!![]()
