MTN Black Friday Discussions

Bloody hell, they refused to budge more than 50 minutes for me. How did you manage it?
I asked the lady nicely for more minutes, as I require more than 50mins for work related calls. She didn't budge and wanted to give me a router with the deal. Then I threatened to cancel, made up a story about a colleague receiving additional minutes, etc.

A few mins later she offered me the deal with the additional 500 anytime, any network minutes.

Remember all of these packages have a cooldown period of 10 days I think. So if you aren't happy, phone in and threaten to cancel. They might offer you a better deal.

Thanks man, will give it a bash on Monday.

I’m now convinced that you & @falcon786 are Jedis & used the Jedi mind trick on these unsuspecting MTN retentions consultants. I tried everything to get the deal you got but it didn’t work.

I got the 15.5GB, 550 min deal but structured a bit differently:

R149 - 15.5GB Anytime Data, 550 Min, 500MB Night Data, 50 SMS's * 36.. Product Code: 2020991CT00506DG
Deal Structure:
MTN Made for Me XS
15.5 GB Anytime Data p/m
500MB Night Data p/m
550 Any Network Min p/m
50 SMS's
@ R149pm x 36 (or R199pm x 24)

This is the structure that the agent claimed the package has. The product code is also a bit strange.
I am not sure if I believe her, but I recorded the call so hopefully I can get it that way.
So a day later, can you confirm if your got this? :D Seems like an excellent deal for my wife. Her MTN contract just switched to month-to-month and the minutes it comes with is just what she needs

Some advice would be greatly appreciated. I am currently due for an upgrade, I'm using my MTN Made for Business M sim card in a old phone since my Huawei Mate 20 Pro was stolen.
I have waited for Black Friday but I am absolutely clueless when it comes to all these data deals and how they can be use.
I'm looking at the S20 FE but with a bit more data if possible.

Is it possible to sign up for the cellphone contract and then add one of the above mentioned data deals (sharing the data from an old phone perhaps?). If so, what would you guys recommend? Looking for something under the R1k p/m mark but I can stretch it a bit if needed.

What is the deal code for the 24 months package

Deal codes are the same, they just add on R50per month on your contract, I was also keen on the 24mt contract but Thato explained to me that if I need to upgrade in month 24 of my contract I would only pay a month's subscription as a penalty.

So a week later, 1 of my 2 lines have received sms's to say that upgrade approved. Package in the MTN app still the same.

What happens when everything is finally migrated to the new package - will I get more sms's to notify me?

You'll probably get smss with the new bundles loaded, should be around the 12th i think.

Have any of you taken either of these Black Friday deals:

What I want to know is:
1)Does it come with Night Express data?
2)Can you use data share, if so how many GB can you share?
3)If you cancel early do you pay a 1 month Cancellation fee?

Those are both normal BD deals, can't see that they have any night data, probably don't support datashare(you'll have to ask) and because they have devices they'll charge you a hefty cancellation fee.

I got an email with the contract once the upgrade was approved.

Chatted to a MTN rep and according to then I do not qualify for any of the promotions.I told my Business Contract is past 24 months and I am willing to sign a contract for 36 months.Their response, sorry we cannot offer you a promo. So they will rather loose a client than offer a new contract.Kinda disappointing.

Out of curiosity, what do you have now with them, that makes them ineligible.

I have a made for me package S with phone , but that has been running on month to month since July. Hoping when they call me, that I do qualify?

Phone retentions, they are the only people who can get you these awesome deals and you must have a pre-existing BF 2016 contract to qualify.

I didn't have a BF 2016 contract and I qualified...
Which package did you get?

I have 2 BF2016 that I upgraded yesterday on a buisiness account.. I have another 2x contracts on my fathers name that I want to transfer onto the business account and then get a similar package (data+min), but the store I went to is not sure if it's possible..
