MTN Black Friday Discussions

I changed to CASH this week, and changing my limit to max R300. I was approved instantly for a huge amount. Just crazy!

I did the same- they had a 13k debt mandate on my account- told bank to suspend it and changed MTN account to cash rather
 
I just spoke to retentions and their systems are offline or so they say but they did confirm it is R299 Mychoice 400 and 600GB + 600GB and it appears those that upgraded 2yrs ago to the My choice 400gb/R499 3yr deal with no device are legible to do an early upgrade to this cheaper deal with more GB's but the lady couldn't say what the cancellation fee would be due to system offline.

They're really clueless. I called them again yesterday only to be told that the line i'm calling from is a "mtn business" line so Retentions cant help me, but I explained that the query is on the 3 x other lines. they still transferred me to Mtn business.
My upgrade to the 500 + 500 gb package pro rata data that was loaded, came through as a My choice 400 package but the pro rata was only 80gb, and only 20gb was shareable. Whereas they said it's all shareable.
Then one contract that was supposed to be R99, came through at R669. Gave them, all the details of the agent I spoke to, and the 2 x previous call times and said for them to correct the packages/ pro rata data allocation.
Was promised a call back this morning.... still waiting.
 
I have a question regarding the shareable data on these contracts.
As I understand, the ones without voice minutes included is the ones that is supposed to be shareable. I was told 50% of the anytime data will be shareable. They have loaded my contract as all data being promo data. I ended up switching AGAIN to different contract as the agent made a mistake.

Now on the new one I am on made for me XS with what is supposed to be 24gb day and 24gb night. At least 12gb of the 24gb daytime is shareable according to agent. But it only shows 500mb shareable. I understand the pro rata story will be less than original plan (old contract date was 12th). Will by the first date of the new contract then the correct amount of data shareable?

I think they loaded the package wrong as most of it states PROMO data.
Does the rest of you already have shareable data on new contracts?

What everyone needs to know :

Who is MTN DataShare available to?​

The MTN DataShare is only exclusively available to the following MTN plans; MTN PayAsYouGo, MTN Flexi, MTN Classic and My MTNChoice customers.

The base data of these contracts is what you can share.

You can voice record any consultant on any sweet sounding package they offer you, if it is not as above, forget it.

I am subject to correction on this but this is the rule I have been sticking to when renewing all these years.

In your case, the bulk of that data on that contract is promo.
Promo data is not shareable
 
I'm on MTN Business so they don't want to give me the normal packages. I was able to sign up for Made for Business Data Pro 100GB + 500GB Promo Data at R399 for 36 months. Other option was 100GB + 300GB Promo for R299.

and tell them you got 100 friends who want to do upgrades with him/her/it

that way that advisor knows what deals are and what you want

i did that last time and it worked with my friends
 
I am currently on a 45gb and 500mins BF deal for R199.

I see the deals in a similar price range either have Big Data or Big mins but nothing close to the deal I have currently.
Anybody been able to get a similar deal via an escalation?

Call centre only offering the same things over and over.

Exactly. the old 2018 deals had a great split Data/mins. None of these come close.
What I've done is take 2 x contracts with lotsa Mins and one with EXCESSIVE data (to be shared with the other 2 numbers).

I think the original was 10,000 minutes and 50GB data for R199. These are ok but we're unlikely to see anything like 2018 again...

The big question I'm needing to figure out is which data is used first by the primary SIM? If the primary sim use non-promo data first then all the others piggy-backing off of it could be left dataless mid-way through the month.

Previous experience from my side is that PROMO data gets used first. Also one of the main reasons BF deals was so great in the past

I think the promo data is used first. I see my promo data going down, but my base data of 500mb rolls over to the next month, now its 1GB shareable, and its still 1GB since im not sharing it.

On my 500gb contract from 2020 the promo data gets used first by the primary sim.

Mine is 500GB + 500GB @ 299 x 36 (code: 2022164CT00010)

She said to me the 600GB + 600GB is 349 x 36

Check your contract document. My package is MyChoice 400 hence 400GB is shareable
Damn, I forgot how painful upgrades are via the call centre.

Lady I spoke to yesterday instantly knew about this deal, 2 people today couldn't find it, knew nothing about it.
Should I be going through to the normal retentions department and what phrases or terms should I be using so the agent knows where or what to look for?
