MTN Black Friday Discussions

I got a BF deal last year. R209 for what is a good deal . 15GB data, 550 mins, etc.

However, if I move out of country - all those minutes and data mean nothing (I think). I want to keep the number to use so the plan is to switch to a cheaper month to month contract.

1. Will that be possible just under 1 year into the contract. I am happy to continue paying the price in any case, but if I could save , I would like to do so
2. If one has voice mins, and use VoLTE or VOWiFi for calls, does that mean if I am overseas and VOWifI is showing as active my call shows would come out of the local minutes or would that be an international call ? It could be super useful to call ZA service providers etc this way if necessary.

I have full roaming activated but have never made/taken a call while out of country so don't know exactly how it works.

Is anyone getting any decent retention deals? I have not been offered anythings that isnt a bog standard SIM only deal. At this stage I'll switch to prepaid see how their bulk data top ups go and maybe move to Afrihost

Have a similar package that's expiring Oct this year. Now have to settle for whatever they offer otherwise bill is going to be a shocker.

I'm paying R120pm for 48GB. We share that across my phone, wife's phone, kids phones and some tablets.

Going to cry when that expires end of the year.

cancellations line on 135 line
- seems to be managed by ignition group. I would expect cancellations and retentions to be the same seat ;)
They are terrible but yes they do all the retentions/cancellation.
If they will renew my contract at the current rate I’d be ok with that, I better give them a call and start early.

there is a way to take out a contract thats cheaper than everything so that you keep the contract and when deals come you "upgrade"

but not sure if that is still the case as before that was the case

so you sign up to a R80 contract for example and then when the proper deals come as long as its over that price you can upgrade

This email address does not exist, it just bounced back...

MTN had some excellent BF deals over the years. Think there was one 50Gb for R199? When the contract ran out the price stayed the samew!
