MTN Black Friday Discussions

For anyone who's due for an upgrade now and may be interested in these. Pretty average in my opinion.

Do you have any deals with data and minutes?
Not at the moment. If anything comes up I'll post it.

On a side note if anyone has an idea of whether the other networks, telkom/vodacom have data share like MTN, and if so how does it work

To my knowledge :

Telkom can share up to 5 sims @ R8 each per sim per month, applies to contract only.

Vodacom as well, @ R25 each per sim per month

Telkom data can't be shared to a pay as you go number. MTN can share to pay as you go number.

Telkom only does manual data transfer of 1 GByte per day up to 10 GB per month per number. You can transfer to prepaid numbers. The transfer is done manually from the main number. Or via the app but then you need the OTP sent to the main number or router in my case.

Correct. I do this on the app.
I use a Telkom sim as a back up in my device. Data on my main MTN sim has been quite sloppy for the last 2 to 3 months.

I have 2 Mtn contracts due for upgrade
They not black Friday deals.
Any contacts to try get a better deal on data and minutes or possibly even the phone?

Hi all, just wanted to find out what did everyone with the 18 month BF contracts end up doing. What are our options to be eligible for upgrading again in November if there are good deals?

my upgrade is due in July, expires end Oct so will wait until mid-Oct to see what retentions can offer. I need both Voice+Data.

Cheapest month to month no device contract?
Just want to get one of my prepaid simss ready for any black friday deals

Currently getting ~22GB and 50 all net mins for R175 p/m Sim only. MTN phoned and offered me either 80 GB for R200 pm or 5 GB and 100 mins for R360 p/m.

Seems its time to move to Afrihost if you ned around 20GB and 100mins per month, should cost around R300 (Air 10GB + 10GB topup)

Ended up getting the 250GB for R389 this morning, and I'll still be able to upgrade if there are good deals available this BF.

Hold on, by upgrade you mean only if the BF package is higher in price than the one you upgraded to this morning?

Is that a month to month contract because if not I highly doubt you'll be able to upgrade mid contract but the sales consultants will lie and claim that is the case.

My 36 month MTN Black Friday Data contract is now into the upgrade period but it only expires in November.
What's the best way to approach this, should I be contacting Retentions at this stage to get the best deal or do I need to wait closer to the contract expiry date?

The MTN contract upgrade department called this morning and they seem to only be offering the boring/expensive vanilla deals.
