MTN Black Friday Discussions

Correct. In a WhatsApp group I'm in, a seller was offering monthly data bundles up to 200gb. MTN realised guys were taking out the biggest contracts possible and then reselling the datashare data.

I think we can be appreciative that they didn't choose to cancel datashare as that would've been a clusterF!
Agreed. For someone like me that uses it for my kids and security cameras it's a real win

Thanks for sharing, especially the instructions on how to reach them. I been with MTN for years now, and their vetting process requires me to send a copy of my ID to them. Anybody else had to do this?

These aren't half bad, thank you @tndl79
I received an SMS a few days ago that one of my contracts are expiring on 5 November, and Sub is going from R260 pm to R1486pm.
Which is weird because the sub on that account is R369pm (up from R260 when I took it out 3 years ago.)
That Contract was awesome though, 400gb Daytime, plus 400gb night data, plus another 100gb plus 100gb promo data.
Shared this amongst the wife and kids. Doubt any of us use more than 50gb / month, so might just go for one of those 250GB.
Or maybe wait till November and see what BF deals they come up with.

I phoned retentions just now and this is pretty much still all they are offering.
Can only hope that they get better deals on BF, especially the data only deals.

The guy I spoke to did say they have a R49 10GB data deal 3 month contract that may be useful to bridge the gap till BF.

Is there a similar product to that is a consumer contract?

One thing he did say that I'm unsure of is that you only need to give 20 days notice to cancel a contract, the last agent I spoke to said it's one month notice, which is the correct notice period?

so got an sms that contract will end in few days

dialled retentions and they gave me the same 75min +20gb data for r149
So they basically extended your previous BF contract deal?

The guy I spoke to at retentions said his manager may look at my current contract and get back to me with something closer to that, whether that actually happens I don't know. The MyChoice 400 Data contract my expiring deal is based on is no longer available, it seems all the MyChoice contracts are no more.

I'm reading through these latest posts, and I see we are getting on the same track about why this data share nerfing had to occur, there will always be loopholes for criminals to exploit. Same thing with the FLTE FUP speeds, HYPOTHETICALLY ( don't quote me...) , let's say an individual takes out a 10mb FLTE line, then proceeds to use it to farm bitcoin - 3TB past FUP is realistic for a device that is using data every second of the day.

yeah basically

i think the bigger contracts might be an issue

If I upgrade now to a small R49pm 3 month contract to avoid the massive price jump, in my case R439 to R1650, I’ll be able to change to a BF deal if one is available on BF without any penalty?

And if I give notice to cancel the contract today 30 days notice to end on November 10 can I still sign up to a new contract before the contract finally expires on the 10th?

Current package that is expiring in Nov:
Mega Gigs XS - R307.20pm (51gb data+200minutes+100 bonus minutes)
New package they offering:
Yello Essential - R279.00 pm x 24 (50gb data+125min)
Kinda lame if you ask me, I think I will hold out until Nov as according to my understanding end Oct bill will still be the same
and only if I don't upgrade before end Nov will all the extras that I was getting be charged for.

On which day does your contract expire?
