MTN Black Friday Discussions

... but by doing this, we won't qualify for the BF Retention Deals for 2025?
Am i correct?
This was a 12 month contract though so I should be "free" by the time the next black Friday comes around..... But will kick myself if there is a good BF deal this year.

Being free by the time the next BF comes around means you won't qualify for the BF Retention deals for 2026.
So you can kick yourself from now to then 😁

Just spoke to them, they have got 100gb pm R239.00 15gb is shareable. But only for 12 months. I didnt take it up as i want 24 or 36 months. So will call again next week.... I want lots of data and no or minimal calls

Spoke to 3 different MTN consultants on 135, all three suggest I wait till Next Week when the BF deals come out.
Won’t that affect your billing?
As mentioned in previous posts billing cycle is on the 11th so if you don’t upgrade before you gonna get billed for all the promotional items at the normal rate.

That's what the SMS i received said, but 2 of the 3 consultants said, it might not. I've logged into the MTN App and it shows billing for November at the Discounted rate.
They have no decent downgrade or upgrade deals ATM so suggested I wait till next week.
The contract actually ends today. So billing would be from 6th Nov to 5 December.
If they Bill me the full amount, it's R1100 more than usual, i'm willing to take that risk as this 400gb plus 400gb package is unbeatable. If anything the upgrade will be in effect from 15/16 November, which means they can only charge me pro rata from 6 Nov to 15/16 Nov. (I HOPE) LOL

I had the exact same conversation as they’re all calling regarding the upgrade and they’ve indicated that there’s nothing to match the 400+400 so it’s best to hold out and hope for something in BF2025.

I'm also on the 400GB package which comes to an end on the 11 of this month. Spoke to a consultant @ retentions today, all they can offer is 250GB @ 389 x 12 months with 70GB shareable.

Consultant has no idea when the BF Retention deals will be available. Cannot downgrade to a package now and then still qualify for a BF Retention deal. She says MTN will not allow that.

Which package are you on?
They told me my package is no longer available…
The 400 + 400gb super package, it’s based on the MyChoice contracts which are no longer offered.

I’m also seeing the normal billing rate adding up in the MTN app for my 400gb package. But I got an email saying my next bill will be R1700, hoping that's not the one on the 12th Nov. Also they said they don't pro-rate data contracts after you've been billed, they only pro-rata things when you sign up a new contract.

I think the only viable option is to sign up for the R389 x 12 month deal before the 12th to save paying that R1800 bill shocker.

Then if the general new BF deals are better, cancel the contract and sign up for a new one.

So basically, no BF Retention deal for us on our current contracts expiring on the 11th.

But it’s not guaranteed they will allow that and knowing how terrible it is dealing with MTN retentions I personally would rather pay the high bill than have to sort out a mess with them again.

This is what my 400gb bill is looking like currently on the MTN app and there's only 7 billing days left.
How is it looking for those who are in the same situation?

My bill shows R298,75
Next bill date is on 12 November, that's the one going to shoot to R1700 if I don't do anything by the 11 November

That's correct but I would have expected the bill to have increased by alot more by now if it was going to jump to R1700?

Why do the powerflex look so nice to me, but I do have a contract number, so to switch over is a problem.

Makes no Sense.
The Billing on that Number still shows R56, but for all 5 x numbers it shows the small amounts.
Yet, the "Current Bill" is now R2755 which is R1100 more than my normal monthly for all 5 x numbers.
So it seems they are charging the full / normal rate for that number.
