MTN Black Friday Discussions

Does anyone know if the following is possible?

CURRENT:

I use a dual sim phone. My work number is a PREPAID VODA in slot 1 and my BLACK FRIDAY MTN is in slot 2. I use MTN for outgoing calls and data, VODA is used for all bank and alarm sms receiving and incoming voice calls.

WHAT I WANT IN FUTURE:

NOW, If I wanted to go to a single sim phone, if I port my VODA number to MTN prepaid, will MTN be able to make my BLACK FRIDAY contract sim the ported VODACOM number so that I only have 1 number and 1 sim?

Apparently it is possible to do that mid contract but you have to know someone inside MTN or properly throw your toys out the cart via MTN callcenter.

I don't know why they make it so difficult, porting a number in should be fine, I can see why porting a contract number out would be an issue as that would reduce the motivation for people to honour contracts if they could move their numbers off the contract.

If there is some trick to convincing them to this without a fight I'd love to know how.

Now you wait, can take weeks, it's some kind of manual activation and you sit in the queue or some other bs. Test it every few days and perhaps go back to the store once a week and ask why it's not actively yet.

It's a real pita but awesome once it's working.
Thanks... Will keep an eye on it...

It is possible , I had this done on my BF deal. But you have to go through hoops im afraid

I want to use my data for gaming however to do that I'll need the unrestricted APN. If I tell mtn to activate the unrestricted APN, will that affect my dual call in any way?

Not sure if it's been asked or debated.. but what happens when the two year period for the contract is up? I'll miss having the data and minutes but data especially if the contract is not continued..

I was wondering this as well! It will be so impossible to go back to using like 2GB data per month

I have dual call and unrestricted APN. It did not affect my dual call sim. But I did have to follow up numerous times before it was actually done. Typical MTN procedure I suppose

Hi

I want to get dual call on my sim, I would like to know how did you'll activate it, did you phone them or go in store.

Also how much does it cost.

I got my dual sim quickly from in store but it's still not activated after 2 weeks of waiting.

You have to go to the store and log a fault. Whoever is on that side will follow up and activate it

I don't know if any has thought about the black friday deal this way, usually when your contract is about 2 years and you don't call, or walk in to cancel your contract than it just keep going on (i don't know if this have been sad in this forum before).

If you have the contract for 260 or something like that and just using it to have data and not your active call phone than you could have , an awesome deal for very very long time and cheap data and free minutes.

Just a thought.
