MTN Black Friday Discussions

Holy shyte on the phone with them now they can't grasp I didn't get the complete data allocation I was suppose to get....I specifically when with this, because of the night express........FFS !
Did you go with one of the personalised deals, or with a standard MTN offer?

Also holding out although I expect there will just be a couple new device+sim deals

Well will see totally annoyed now with how this contract has been handled. Finally managed to get some one that could two and two together and properly escalate the problem. So how they loaded the promo 10 gig and not the actual monthly 10gig night express. They kept on escalating the problem with the 10 gig promo not having been loaded.

So hopefully it will be sorted soon.

This is what I went with Double Data for 24 months for R299, with a router it's R334.00

standard offer holding out the BF till Friday to see what is what, was offered 20gig day and 10 night for R149.00

I thought you went with the R299 deal?

Why not cancel that deal?

I explained it before, but just in case, I took out an additional contract, for my own personal use, BF sim was plugged into a router for the whole household to use.Come Friday I am either upgrading to a device deal or cancelling it, then in Jan/Feb I am moving the household over to a wisp, R400.00 for 250gig/2mbs.

Wanted the mychoice 20gig R299.00 deal for my self, for work stuff, I do a fair amount of uploading, that isn't possible on a network shared internet or the low speed of the WISP. Additionally I get data roll over, which you didn't get with BF deals, some months I don't have to do uploads, so would have been a shame to waste all that extra data.
Just waiting to see the deals on tablets, if there isn't any, I am cancelling the BF deal.

Is 2mbs good enough for 480p YouTube and Dstv now at low Def under 350MB/hour? WISP has a high contention on the low package 100kbs guaranteed. Yet they will install for R800 and R270 at 2mbs. R500 at 5mbs. At work we used them with 2700 install and paying R400 for 5mbs.

I am not a high downloader anymore but it is useful to have uncapped. I still need portable data at least 10gb for dstv and YouTube. The 100GB package is nice but if I could split the data between SIMS it would be great. Otherwise a low speed wisp with high contention and the R150 20GB package is what I am looking at. Wish rain had a peak hour bundle that could be bolted on.

MTN LTE spoiled me. I got a 1GB torrent in 10 minutes once.

I'm still not sure why you don't cancel the R299 contract, you have 7 days before a signed contract becomes valid. Change it to a new bf deal.

For general household use 2mbs is plenty, but my youtube video's in general is set to 144p or 240p, to give every one a fair chance on the network, on a tablet screen 144p and 240p isn't that crappy.

For uploading I need a better connection, currently getting 5mbps to 7mbps, had to upload a 1.5gig compressed file last week, took 40 odd minutes. Reasonable on a 3g connection. The wisp available here offer 2mbps down and 768kbps up not nearly enough, getting same up and down speed, the price goes up to over 1k. Not willing to pay that much, R400.00 mark is perfect, could go with a package higher up for R45.00 more that offers, 150gig more but exactly the same rates.

He's stuck on wanting rollover on that data so chose 20GB anytime data plus 20GB night data for R299 over 60GB anytime plus 30GB night data for the same price. Really makes no sense at all, especially as IIRC, MTN allows for a maximum of 3 months roll over, but not going to fight with him about how he should spend his money. Made the suggestion a couple of pages back though, so my hands are clean.

Quite happy were I am thanks for being concerned. ;) MTN does not roll over night express promo data or any time promo data, How much of that deal is promo data ? You need to read the T&C more closely...

Some people have no patience
Or, I walked straight in to an MTN store, sat down immediately and walked out with deals which I am completely happy with for 24 months. Why wait? I don't want or need anymore than I have signed up gor and am happy with the per GB rates.

Plus, my last 50GB was not activated so I had 500mb data for this month.

According to this "Inclusive data has a 2-month carryover." So, let's assume* the full 20GB on the plan you're on rolls over for two months, that gives you 60GB anytime in month three, which is what you have each month on the new BF deal. For night owl you can accumulate a max of 60GB too, but the BF deal gives 30GB each month. Anyway, as I said earlier, you've made your choice and seem happy with it so that's fantastic.

*Since the deal you've taken is a promo, you'll probably only be able to rollover half the data in any case which makes max accumulation of 30GB anytime and 30GB night data.

Quite happy with what I have, also don't need more then 20gigs, sure the 60gig is more, to do what with, waste it, using this deal strictly for business purposes, I am not even paying for it, the company I work with gives an allowance. So while it makes no sense to you, for the purposes of the work I do, and only being allowed for the work I do it makes perfectly valid sense.

You keep on forgetting I still have the BF sim I can upgrade with at any time, but holding onto it till Friday, so no dude I planned it perfectly the way I wanted.

Night express doesn't roll over as it is a promotional data bundle, promotional anytime data doesn't roll over either, 60gb and 30 deal is likely based on the mychoice 10gig or 20gig, because of the price and being a special BF upgrade deal, I suspect none of the data will roll over, stand to be correct. ;)
