MTN Black Friday Discussions

happy camper
[email protected] helped me twice within 3 hours of dropping him an email (called me back, so leave a contactable number on your email)
R199 with 60GB anytime + 60GB night data i believe
R79 with 10GB data and 150 minutes

(intend to share from primary to secondary, as +-30GB is more than enough for both sim's , so the additional GB's will serve as a good buffer)

Can you data share to a contract number?

Ok so I got through to Donation and got some slightly different info.

The data + minutes bundles are actually the following:
  • 10 GB (anytime) + 100 minutes (any network) = R79 x 36 months, R99 x 24 months
  • 10 GB (anytime) + 500 minutes (any network) = R149 x 36 months, R199 x 24 months
I went with the second one at 36 months. 24 months makes no sense if you consider the below bits.

Confirmed that cancellation is only one extra month. Also confirmed that since it's a sim-only deal, you can upgrade any time after 12 months into your contract. So you can potentially take up next year's BF deal, or the year after. You don't have to cancel first...

Do you have a deal code for his by any chance.

Nope, I asked, but she didn't want to give it out.

They're definitely getting suspicious -- she asked "where did you find out about the deal?" in a bit of an accusing fashion, and I said "a colleage of mine upgraded to it" which seemed to settle it.

The guy from the normal upgrade line also asked where I found about it, and then searched for it on his system and did find it as well, and then later indicated to me that it is a retensions deal. So I get the idea that they are supposed to have access to a list of the specials and can search through it for the one you want?

The lady at retensions searched for the same one but with 24 months, and she did find it eventually.

How the **** man. I want that 2nd deal, can you share a code? The person I was talking to had very limited info.

Goodness the information we get back is super different.

What are these deals structured as?

He didn't want to give it lol. I think if you run into someone who doesn't have the info you want, rather try speaking to someone different...

he described my 2nd contract to the point as follows :
36 month
contract name mtn made for me x small
standard 500 mb anytime data 500 mb night
standard 50 min 50 smses
add 10gb anytime ( no night time)
add 100min
thus total 10.5gb anytime, and 150min
R79 pm

early term fee 1month + current invoice

there was also a 20.5GB one for R99 but only 50min.

The sneaky buggers also increased my contract limit to R100. Will need to set it back to 0 on the app...

My consultant told me the 'bonus' minutes are only MTN to MTN, and the bonus data is only for MTN, and doesn't know what that means. So she'll call me back. Which she hasn't.

Hi.

For my data needs at home...
Is there a deal for consumer with 500gb anytime data?

For mobile needs(consumer), I require about:
700 anytime any network minutes,
15 to 30gb anytime data,
Sms will be a bonus

Any similar deal codes?

Looks like they trying to charge me the non promotion price for this month so an extra R550 even though it was impossible for me to upgrade in time because I failed the credit checks because of the bogus R4970 bill.

Just got off the line with retentions, the lady informed me that there would be more black Friday deals coming out closer to Friday and that it would be a good idea to wait till then.

MTN will be sending customized packages via sms and email, similar to previous years.

I have until the 12th to upgrade so I will see what happens up until Friday.

The package she offered was the 50Gb anytime data + 50min (50gb is not sharable) @R259 and then some other low data package with 150min.

My bill limit is set to R305, can you explain to me what that is
Means if you run out of minutes or data, they can bill you out of bundle up to your bill limit.

I prefer it set to 0 because I don't trust their billing. If I run out I'll manually recharge...

Thought as much. Another user above also pointed this out. Rather wait till Friday and give them a call. I'm not looking forward to it considering I waited like 45 min back in 2018 to speak to retentions.
