MTN Black Friday Discussions

I’ve got the same problem with my 100GB anytime data deal. While the primary SIM isn’t working, the 8 linked SIMs (datashare) all work!
myMTN app still shows old 2018 BF MTNChoice package yet says my next upgrade is 2023.

If I use the afrihost APN on the line, data works immediately. If I change to either internet or mymtn, no data connection.

Makes me think the upgrade has failed and the sim is no longer provisioned for the mtn apn's.

Both contracts expired on the 24th November as a Black Friday deal.
Please advise if you are looking to upgrade these lines? As all the discounted billing falls away.

that looks more like it! i will see if the "escalation" resolves it later this week, or else follow this route.

I also had no data connection after upgrading, I put the phone into Airplane mode for a few minutes and worked after that. I'm noticing no Personal Hotspot, now to figure that out.

Does anyone on the Made for Me XS have hotspot access?

After they processed the upgrade on one of my lines, I experienced no data connection. Rebooted the device and it resolved the issue.
Worth the try..
 
Yip - I have tried the sim in multiple devices, reboots, different APN's, something is broken on the back end

My upgrade went though last night. My dual call sim got deactivated this morning. Currently on hold trying to get it activated again

EDIT: 15 min on hold and nice lady helped me, she knew exactly what was wrong and 5 min later my dual call sim was reactivated

Is that a second sim on the same contract?

Edit: Found this after some googling - https://www.mtn.co.za/Pages/DualCalling.aspx. Didn't know this existed, awesome stuff
 
Looks like an mtn reseller, id stay stay away ive had experience from these type of resellers that get liquidated mid contract (GT cellular is an example)

How risky would it be?
If they go belly up, contract should just terminate?

i called them. the guy said if they had to shut down we still mtn customers... they just resellers
im sceptical
 
General MTN BF question to our forumites : What is the cheapest new, sim-only contract that someone has signed up for? Not an upgrade of an existing contract, a new one?
 
I'm on R499 for 500GB anytime + 100GB night data, on Datashare is shows 0 GB being shared.

I have logged a query with MTN.

When I dial 135 I get to a voice recording about Unisa and no option to try to get through to an operator... sheesh..
