Its that time of the year again...
Any decent deals?

If you can't get fibre, then the R499 uncapped LTE is a good deal, however speed is capped to 10mb/s. That is sufficient just for Netflix YouTube etc.

[Leonsteg]

Rumor have it they will be having sim only deal for R150/month for 200 min and 50gb data a month.

Anybody that can confirm it?

Be careful of MTN they don't have backup power at there towers down time a big problem

They do in my area, even when area when down for 8 hours. New tower though built 2017

My local towers are now like that, they never used to be, where can you report it?

[Conack]

Many of the MTN towers in the southern cape don't last at all.
Contact of mine had a meeting with the regional manager : He said MTN isn't replacing their towers' batteries anymore.

So while the new towers come equipped with batteries - they don't replace them after that.
Little to no signal here during Loadshedding, and businesses using MTN LTE are shirt out of luck during LS and also for roughly 20-30 minutes after power has been restored before it's working again.

Atleast Fibre stays on.

[FAZE MAZE]

Makes sense that the tower network's batteries have not been maintained/replaced. MTN had plans in place to off-load their tower network

MTN to sell its SA cellphone towers to IHS in a R6.4 billion deal

Can one put a sim like this into one's phone, will it work, e.g. if running dual sim have it as the data sim.

And data sharing to another sim card should work too?

Should work, as long as its not mychoice and unlimited data plans according to their current terms and conditions

I noticed the same in my area. The network is really bad during load shedding.

I noticed the same in my area. The network is really bad during load shedding.

We get no calls and data, if we do get data, its best not even using it during load shedding, cause its so bad, cant do sh*t.

Nothing great from MTN this year?

Vodacom has a decent 400gb anytime + 400gb night sim only @ R349

Wow, being R150 cheaper, this puts the MTN 500+500 @499 I am on to shame. MTN really hooked me in with this 3 year contract but hopefully been sim only I can cancel at anytime without much of a penalty.

Looks disappointing

[MSB]

I was hoping to get onto a 500GB MTN package and also need a new phone / voice contract.
haven't seen any good deals.

considering that Vodacom deal. where do you find it.

Vodacom is a little slower in my town, but works during load shedding, whereas MTN doesnt

[eagle2k]
